i know they fought but that was an all too brief skirmish. if they fought, lets say, at marineford, who wins?

I'd say Ace, basically due to the fact he should know Haki and has the ability to keep Smoker away from him.

Then again Ace did say there'd be no winner between smoke and fire so it's all pretty confusing.

Ace shown haki at the age of 8, he used conquerors haki on bluejam pirates. Ace hasn't been seen using haki in a serious fight like blackbeard.

CoC is useless in fights as far as we know. He didn't show any CoA or CoO.

It's called the strongest kai for a reason, we don't know if Ace had the other forms because he rarely even battled.
From what we have seen captains captains 1-3 have armor haki

We still don't know what it can do other than knocking out fodders at this point. We saw him fight against BB and a bit during the war but still didn't show if he knew it.

It's absolutely not reasonable to say he had it, there's no evidence to support such a baseless claim.
If he was stronger than his rank implied and had Haki, why wasn't he a VA? Having Haki is required for the title.

The only reason why he seemed so strong was because his being a logia type made him incredibly hard to fight.
At the same time, he himself relied upon Kairoseki to injure DF users such as Luffy.​

Well Ace had conquers haki which not only make you faint, but to also damage inanimate objects and cause a mass wind rush to send people flying (shown by Shanks/WB). Beside that, i'm yet to see Smoker take on a powerful attack such as Ace's Entei (size of half an island).
