There is no right or wrong answer to this question. It's based on morality. A lot of people would choose to save the people they know, (it's extinct and it's emotional) rather then save complete strangers who would later leave their savior and continue on with their lives.
You save your family for the survival of your own life. You save your family, you continue to have a future and continue your line.
You save the strangers, you've saved many future generations. Many of which could have found the cure to cancer, AIDS, or become their country's new leader.
This question to sum it up is; Do you save the people you love to keep a future for yourself or do you save the strangers for the future of the world?
No one really knows the true meaning of this question, Until now.
