6POP and Uchiha Itachi

Before Tobi/Obito came in the picture, these two were the most powerful amongst the Akatsuki. But who would win?
Can Itachi take on the Six Paths of Pain? Though they're not as strong as Nagato himself, the six paths put up a good fight against anyone as you can tell with Jiraiya and Naruto.

This is without either opponent having intel on each other btw, is it possible for the one of the greatest strategists to deduce the Path's abilities and weaknesses and deliver final blow? Post your thoughts below and explain your reasoning.

I'd rather not leave it to statements like that because I'm sure that was made before all of Itachi's abilities were shown in the manga.
Also, I do believe that Pein wins but I can definitely see Itachi winning in a few scenarios.

I think it takes a little more than just those two to deal with Itachi. Itachi has shown that he can handle the summonings. I'd say high diff for Pain in any scenario he wins.
