speed combined with wit is in my opinion far more deadly than raw power

I agree, but the 1st is also smart and is a great strategist. He was at war all his life and had to fight and survive against the uchias who were the best clan next to them. He had to have been a genius to have defeated madara, and fyi he is smart as hell and had ems to add to his smarts at the time. I dont think he just relied on his wood to fight I'm sure its more to that man and can't wait till they giv his story..
