My university was one of the oldest and the most respectable ones in my city, so it was sad to see it go downhill so fast. Not to mention its most famous and serious engineering faculties were removed or merged in favor of stuff like economy and management.
I still tell people that I'm half chemical engineer. I wish I could actually become one and be proud of myself, I tried, I really did, but in the end, I couldn't. Now all I can do is feel happy for those who succeed.

Well my university is one of the oldest and most respectable ones in the country too... And it is a technical university so it is a place which is suppose to raise scientists. Hence the reason why a corrupted government would target such universities. Raising an engineer costs a lot more than raising a manager or economist. An engineer needs high level facilities and tools like labs, computers, machines one can't see randomly in daily life, safety for education so cutting down their resources must meant saving money for some. Idk the reason but that's how i guessed it.
Mhh if you really did not want to go back there imo that's not a bad thing. If there are things you like to do go for them.
Or return to college and come to my corrupted university with erasmus. You will be welcomed.

I never went to college though. And I did try to come back, only to drop out again, twice. And then I tried a different university but I left it too, after becoming utterly disappointed in our educational system. So I eventually became a lowly hairdresser with no ambition whatsoever, aka an average citizen with an average job. Most people who I know now had paths that are similar in a way; some of them did graduate from universities but didn't get jobs that they studied for. Though, since they have normal problems like kids and all that, I still don't fit among them well :|
