Good theory. And yeah. It's a given really.
If Shinju, a tree deity is the proginator of different sorts of life forms (vegetation and animals) its fair to say Mokuton is a far cry from the God Tree itself.
Seeing how Hashirama's DNA not only provide powerful chakra, but a life force so powerful it is used a catalyst for the husk of Shinju originally, like Madara used it.
But there is a connection of sorts between Hashirama and Shinju, it's almost like Shinju is reincarnated as Hashirama.
Which is interesting given the fact Mokuton absorbs and restrains Bijuu's just as the Shinju (Gedo Mazo) does. Both of which uses dragons to absorb chakra.
