Now we all know that Hiruzen gave Danzo too much free roam and was constantly criticized in front of his face by him. IMO, Hiruzen should have killed Danzo but How would the Yondaime Hokage deal with Danzo?

Kishi will make him play an important role. He must have realized that he kept Hiruzen in the dark for too long and decided to take out the other Hokage out of the battle so he can have his moment. Sorry if this made you mad but thats just my opinion on the matter.
