One thing I noticed about Hiruzen during the war is that he commonly disappears, then comes back, disappears, than comes back and repeat but whenever he comes back. He shows new feats that get better and better each time he reappears.
After getting blown off by Obito, he disappears long enough for people to assume that he has been killed BUT then randomly appears in the nick of time to save Naruto from the Shinju's Branches which the 2nd and 4th Hokage couldn't even destroy. Here he magically appears and destroys a vast amount of Shinju Branches easily that would have killed Naruto.
After that ordeal, he simply disappears again but then comes back to destroy again and this time a HUGE a** branch of the Shinju tree like if he was a lumberjack.
Then as usual he disappears AGAIN!!!
In the midst of all the fighting going on with the revived Madara, we soon learn that he was dealing with Zetsu's Buddha Statue and witnessed him counter it's attacks by using all 5 Elements to a godly level (Seriously look at the size of the people and compare that to the elements being shown)
Not only is using all 5 Elements simultaneously (which people who have modified bodies or bloodline traits mostly have the ability to do) amazing but to use them to a godly level as shown is amazing. This easily shows Hiruzen's mastery of Ninjutsu to be at master level and this is ONLY the elements he was using. This only fulfills part of his Hype of knowing and being able to use all Jutsu in the Leaf.
Kishi has had trouble trying to fit in Hiruzen in the fight so he purposely removed the 3 Hokages, SA, Bee, and 5 Kage to let people who didn't have enough panel time finally get some such as Team Guy and Hiruzen.
The rest of his Hype will be shown eventually as even Shikamaru notes Hiruzen to be a huge player in this war. The next time Hiruzen appears, he will show his next feat which will leave people in awe questioning why they ever doubted Hiruzen.
