maybe I am not sure, anway I wanted to show what was happening at battlefield while hashirama was telling his flashback more then showing half dead five kages, but you may be right. From last chapter it can go in many directions so it's up to Kishi

Amazing, it is really great. Although it would suck if we coudn't see what was happening on battlefield while Sasuke and rest was listening to hashirama's story, besides before we switched to Sasuke and rest shinobi alliance began to overpower them so i don't think they would loose so fast...
