It was one of the worst reveals in the history of shonen manga. Kishi had to come up with an extremely convulted story to even explain it.

Honestly I can't see anything that points to that conclusion. Sure, he's an Indra reincarnation, but exactly what advantages does that actually afford Madara? Most other things Madara does, aren't indicative of higher talent. Is there anything that points to Madara be more talented in one field...

Take Susanoo for instance, does it take a lot chakra just create the skeleton Susanoo? Or does it take a lot of chakra to maintain only? What about ribcage Susanoo? Also does Amaterasu and Kamui take proportionally less chakra to create a smaller area of affect (like finger size Amaterasu)?
