For the past 2 hours, my computer has been taking forever to get a signal for wifi and it wont open anything up after the signal is connected. I couldn't even access Google chrome at all unless I opened it before the wifi was done connecting. Everytime it screws up, i have to force it to shut off or restart and it wont help no matter what I do. Currently, the only way to even get on the internet and do anything on the computer is to access the safe mode Windows has. So how on earth do I fix it?

its probably a virus or malware blocking it

if you have vista

click Ctrl + Alt + Delete, click open task manager, then click processes tab - close any process that you dont recognize or trust, then try reconnecting

for other windoes versions try to do the same

I have Windows 7 and i can't even get Ctrl+Alt+Delete to work because it tells me to shut it down

Try clearing your cache and do a restart
how do you do that?

Your computer might be using too many resources trying to connect to the internet, so it will respond slower or take ages to open a program.
If you've got a router, try turning it off and wait 30 seconds before turning it back on. If that doesn't work, there might be a problem with your wireless adapter or network card.

Sorry I can't offer any solid solution right now. :ghehe:

At what point exactly did you start to have this issue?

Possible solutions: turn wifi on;, reset router; get closer to router; reconfigure antivirus software;

i dont have win 7 but go to control panels, and try to find performance tools, there click Advanced tools or smth, there click "open task manager"
As Ash said ... Try to stop unwanted Processes through Task Manager ... another way to open it ... right click on Taskbar ( the bottom bar where u have start menu ) and select Task Manager .

I dont think its a problem of Browser ... so clearing cache will not help much imo ..but u can try that also :) ..

Mainly computers hung when they dont have enough resources to run the processes i.e. CPU got overloaded by processes which increases CPU as well as memory usage :)

One more thing might help - while Installing new apps or programs be careful abut some things like

1. deselect "Start when windows starts" - If u select them then when u start ur pc .. all those programs tries to start at the same time resulting slowing down ur pc and some of them u dont even use also.

2. Dont install unnecessary add-ons like Search bar or Toolbar . many have option like "make this my defualt home page/Search engine" , "Install this toolbar" . Try to avoid those cauz they overload ur Browser with additional search , toolbar which slows them down as well as reduces the size of the window.

3. If u already Installed some with "start when windows start" - In Run ( Window Key+R) type - msconfig and u can deselect those unwanted processes which starts with ur windows and can have Selective StartUp . but be careful with other processes , dont stop any system process ;)

Hope this Helps to speed up ur PC a bit :ice:
