I'm going to have to ask that you read my post on page one. I don't feel much like repeating the whole thing, mainly because it's late and I'm about to head to bed. However, you need to understand, this isn't him being a crybaby or anything like it. This child suffered from Video Game Addiction, in all the same ways somebody would suffer from alcoholism or drug addiction. It's a real thing, it exists, and sadly, it is almost never diagnosed properly or recognized because too many people don't know about the actual affliction. Video games and his online connection with people likely served as his method of escapism from the world around him, just as it is with alcoholics or drug addicts. However, he became dependent on it, leading to his addiction. And when his father took it away so suddenly it threw him into shock and blind aggression. He wasn't being a cry baby. Remember that.

Ok maybe he wasnt a crybaby but the parents could have limited the time their son was playing games thats their fault because they didnt control their son before it was to late they probably just left him alone in the room all the time and i know about the adiction but as a said the the kids that become adicted from video games are the ones that are lonely and their parents dont care about what he is doing

I've got to correct you there as well. That's not how the addiction process works. It is caused by an inner dependency in the individual person. If they have a stressful life then they find a means of escape. This child's escape was his video games. However, he became too attached, the Xbox turned into his only method of stress relief and escape from the world. He decided to stop facing things head on and deal with his problems so that he could just escape into the fantasy world of online gaming.

The addiction exists, you can't just prevent it. Sure, the parents could have limited time, or simply not give him a game in the first place. However, that would not have prevented it, it would have just made the symptoms less hazardous.

And the addicted population isn't created because their parents didn't love them enough or didn't pay attention. It is caused by the individual's current mindset, emotions, and mental stability. You'll find, that individuals who suffer from Bipolar, schizophrenia, autism, and aspergers are at a much higher risk of succumbing to any form of addiction. Also, a large majority of the world's youth has actually been found to suffer from one mental instability or another, aspergers actually being the leader in constantly appearing cases.

So it's not the parent's fault either. They simply didn't know what was happening. How could they know their son suffered from an illness they probably knew nothing about? In the end it really isn't anybody's fault at the end of this story, it's just a sad tragedy.

You in fact, do not know. Addiction isn't caused by the parents. He would've become addicted even if they hadn't let him play for so long. So no, being strict would not have avoided it. In fact, it would have made the situation worse. Addiction isn't something you can just walk up to and say F*ck off. It doesn't work like that. You can't medicate it, you can't cure it, and you can't prevent it. You can treat it however. You can learn how to cope and not succumb to the addiction itself. Does that mean that you've then cured addiction? No, it just means that you've learned how to push it aside and not let it run your life anymore.

I'll say it again, this was not a product of the parent's actions. This was a product of addiction. No manner of strict rules, harsh words, or lack of game time would have prevented it. He may have not become addicted to video games, but he would still become an addict on some other substance or action that would lead tot he exact same results without treatment.

The parents didn't know, obviously. So you cannot nor do you have the right to condemn them. It is the same as condemning or judging somebody who say....doesn't know how to identify the symptoms of a heart attack until it is too late. Is it the person's fault then if they couldn't stop it? No, because they didn't know. So try to refrain from such a close minded standpoint when you don't look at the entire situation.
