the actual ideals of communism isn't actually that bad, theoretically everyone gets the exact same and there is no rich or poor, but all equal and everything is owned by the state which is very different to the likes of america and people don't like change. Many americans probably don't know what communism actually is, they just link it to the red threat which is automatically bad in the eyes of americans,

this guy said it to perfection

Best analogy is the carrot in front of the horse. Capitalism puts a carrot in front of all the horses and as they go they get just enough of it to sustain themselves throughout their life. All the horses know they have a chance to get that carrot, the whole thing, and be extremely wealthy or at least well off. Some of the horses work extra hard and pull a lot more weight, so they do actually get a nice chunk eventually, but not without working so hard that they left all the other horses behind.

Okay, so they all see this happen every once in a while; when it happens, it gives everyone else the hope that one day they'll break away and get the whole carrot. It's more like a dream, but keeps everyone going just that much more, especially when they were starting to lose hope and think the carrot was impossible to get. On top of that, their all getting something in the meantime so they have a great starting point to begin with because the pieces they are earning have elevated them above someone that isn't earning.

Now, communism and socialism is where everybody gets pieces of the carrot no matter what. One horse that is pulling their full weight gets just as much of the carrot as someone not pulling their full weight. So what do the horses do? Nothing. There's no prize to be had, there's no reason to pull at all since you'll get the same amount as the next horse whether you work hard or not. This system fails. There might be flaws with capitalism, but at least it works.

Most americans when they hear the word Communism, Stalin, soviet, Cuba's life style, war ready korea comes to mind. They tend to think that the government will be holding them by the balls. They seem to not distinguish the difference between communism, totalitarian, and socialism. I live in the u.s and can easily tell. I honestly believe this country could use some socialism to help balance it since capitalism is starting to fail.

Capitalism is only starting to fail because socialism is being introduced.

you dont see the whole picture ...

yes many big CEO's and companies are ripping of poor labors with less salary i'm not denying that<----------this is the problem

but the solution to this problem is to remove that particular CEO and take that organisation into the govt wing as a public sector organisation

NOT to turn to communism where every organisation including the good ones (like our family business) are turned into a public sector company

As a CEO in the United States, you have the power to, without wanring, remove another individuals' income base. You can do so for personal or professional reasons, but the fact remains that you leave an individual to starve and die simply because you feel that it's the ideal solution. You also contribute to the growing amount of unemployed and poor individuals in the United States.
Communism is a solution that solves both problems. In a society practising perfect Marxism, a 'CEO' doesn't exist as such, it's simply another administrative position. A 'Communist CEO' doesn't have the power to fire anyone, instead he's able to submit a report to an impartial party, whom can make the decision to move the worker in question to another job.
Communism is about teamwork, collaboration and communication. The worker in question would also have the option of going back to school to aim for another job, for example.
'What about those who work twice as much as normal people?' you might ask. Well, there are no people like that in a Communist society. There are enough adults in every nation to support the country's economy simply by working 37-45 hours a week. The positions that require more hours than that are simply split into two, or are granted an assistant. Everyone gets a job, which allows us to 'slack off' in some areas, if so to speak.
Of course there are some jobs that most people would rather not do, but those will simply be split into several pieces, forming thousands upon thousands of part-time jobs that the 'generation in education' can easily handle in their spare-time.
Communism: it's a Party!

If I may say, I think people are afraid of the whole "Heart Surgeon being payed the same wages as a Janitor" situation. While both are equally important jobs, the former requires a very specific skill set not available to the general public. I'll admit, I don't know how Communism works in the field of "wages between different types of jobs", but, I remember my friend saying something about a merit based Communistic system.

For example, all Heart Surgeons make say, $150. Depending on who "works hardest", that wage increases. Same with all the others.

This encourages people to work hard, and rewards them for doing so, without breaking the fundamental system of equality of Communism - if someone is better off, it is because they worked harder...

...And I know I explained it horribly, something akin to a capitalistic system, and I also know that I probably just contributed nothing of merit to this thread.

But, I'll do this in response to the OP's statement: As an American, I do realize that Communism is a perfect system in theory. However, because of the element of human corruption, I don't believe that it is the best governmental form in practice. Neither, though, do I think our capitalistic economic view is correct either, and there is a large amount that is wrong with our government. One thing people don't realize, is that some Socialism is a good thing.

Communism was aimed to distribute all resources equally to all people

but it was abused by the leaders , it was enforced while it should've been democratically debated

the red army in the early 20th century was marching onto each city demolishing all of the Tsars followers.

it was a structure bound to collapse , and is collapsing in China , has already collapsed In Russia and Cuba

globalization is taking place too rapidly and people start realizing their difference from each other , thus there is not chance for Socialism to win in the battle against Capitalism

as for USSR , the reason it collapsed was due to the Famous "Perestroika" , in which Gorbachev has miscalculated the capacity of his economy

IT is a Utopia bound to fail

Meritocracy in Communism? Not really. One of the very foundations of Communism is equal income.
However, you do make an incorrect assumption in saying that the skill-set of a heart-surgeon isn't available to the general public. In perfect Communism, your opportunities education-wise are endless. Everyone can become a heart-surgeon, not just the people with the money. With more people comes more applicants, with more applicants comes more students, with more students comes more heart-surgeons. Supply meets demand.

Really though, perfect Communism requires an extreme amount of dedication to achieve. The system works when it's in practise, it's the process of going from Capitalism to Communism that ends up burning. When you, as a dactor, are used to your awesome salary, it doesn't really seem fair that it's lowered, does it?
Communism works by creating an equilibrium in the NET-value of the individual. The rich fall to lift the poort; and most rich people don't like that one bit.

Regarding the 'janitor issue', I'd like to add that a a janitor cleans and maintains a school. If we make the students clean and call in mechanics to fix problems that need expertise, why do we need a janitor? Perfect Communism removes a lot of jobs, as they become obsolete in the wave of part-time and full-time jobs. The janitor is free to become a heart-surgeon, because education is free and his jobs is being taken care of by the collective.

Naturally, Communism comes with a prize: we'll all need to work. Students will have to have a part-time job and many retired individuals will be encouraged to take a part-time job, too. Don't get discouraged, though, because it's an easy burden for everyone to bear. Everyone carries a peeble, and suddenly you have a mountain.

i did not say i'm from USA and i'm not from USA..... in USA that threat may exist ....again the solution is not to introduce communism but to reorganize the policy governing the private sector

in my country i cannot remove any employee just bcos i dont like him ... i have to give him a prior intimation like 3 months if its for general reasons like cutting cost or other bureaucratic measure

only if its a serious crime such as embezzlement or co-worker abuse i can fire him on the same day which would follow a police complaint

if one of my employee feels he is wrongly been fired he can complain to the labor association and if all other labors agree to his complaint they will go forward with a judicial action to revoke his dismissal and pay him the salary for the period of time he was jobless

communism is the only solution that will give jobs to the unemployed is not true ....bcos there are many jobs being created in capitalist countries too ...
if its the govt responsibility to create job by introducing new factories or companies it'll take a lot of time
but if any private individual or group can create companies they'll provide more jobs faster
just think
govt->one organisation have to do all the work
many private group -> many private companies more jobs

even in USA do you think there are actually no jobs and that is the reason behind unemployment
completely NO ..... there are lots of job but those jobs are given to other country people (outsourcing/off-shoring) who do the same work even better and mostly for less salary as simple as that

so here the pblm is not lack of jobs but wrong policy concerning how much work can be outsourced or what % of jobs can be given to foreign nationals etc

so in reality you are blaming the system instead of blaming the person who implements it wrong

in communism the system itself is bound to fail ....bcos its based on creating a equal society and in most cases it leads to a society where every one will be in a low-middle class standard i.e even those who are gifted engineers, doctors, business and scientist will be given the same low-middle class salary
so majority of the brilliant people would choose to go abroad to seek a better paying job for their talent,.. leaving the country a bit talent less and in a lot of mess ..... if the govt restrict this it'll be called a dictatorship and overthrown then again ciaos would reign

Laziness? Are you sure you know what you're talking about?

Yes, I know what I'm talking about. Communism favors people of work, but everyone knows that it is the dream of every person of work to be lazy and just ****ing don't do anything, because what for? For nothing obviously, because all you have in communism are empty shelves in stores.

No, but I heard the stories from my parents and grandparents. You were buying stuff for a special pieces of paper that you got, and you could buy a limited amount of stuff like x pounds of sugar or flour and that's all you could get. You could buy a car for these papers as well. That's communism. You had long lines to the store - ppl were waiting a whole night in order to get something from store, but again there was nothing basically in there. Here you have another huge disadvantage of communism. In normal world with capitalism, the customers would not wait but go to a different store. In communism you don't have that option.

There are many people that actually enjoyed communism. For example, some of them say that during communism trains were overcrowded and that's what men enjoyed the most. Since there was no space they were touching women's breasts and other parts, and they would rather want that than own cozy car. Well, some people are just born this way, I can't help it.

Yes, all that happened. Staying in line and everything.
But never, once, people got starved because they had no job with what to buy all those things.

Now there are plenty of fish in the sea, but no jobs, no money with what to buy those things so you starve to death.

Now tell me how it's better? Which is better? Communism that was giving you a working place (not encouraging laziness in any type) or Democracy that supposedly gives you all the freedom, but ****s with everything else, the job market is so poor that you are most of the time jobless so in the end you die of starvation. Or if not, you truly live a damned life.

What do you want? Some restrictions with assurance that you can life a normal, decent life or all the liberty in the world but never having the certainty of tomorrow where you know you can end up as a low-lifer, a beggar, something like that, anyway?

And let's be serious, on those times, if you went to the police and reported any harassment, they would take the necessary means, now they just go around the tails.

Oh trust me I do know what I am talking about.

Romania is an ex-communist country.

The pay was far better than the one nowadays.
