We all know that in this week's chapter, Obito showed that he's been totally converted by Madara and has essentially taken on his will and every negative aspect of his personality:
But we also saw a greater glimpse into Yahiko's character and his beliefs. Essentially, we were told that all of Nagato's beliefs about teaching the world about pain and understanding eachother was really Yahiko's belief, not Nagato's. I was under the impression to a long time that Nagato thought like he did simply as a result of loosing Yahiko. I thought he only acted like that because he was bitter about loosing his friend and wanted other people to feel the same thing. Now I see that after loosing Yahiko, while he did join Tobi/ Obito, Nagato still lived to carry on the will of his friend and adopted Yahiko's ideology as his own.
(first and third panels)
I looked back and realized Yahiko stated things like this in the past, but I didn't notice it as well as I did this chapter:
(fourth panel)
So the meaning of this thread is to show how Nagato took on the will and ideology of Yahiko in a very similar way to Obito taking on Madara's will. The only difference is that Obito assumed Madara's identity while Nagato kept his friend's will alive in more than one way, namely carrying on his ideals while talking through his controlled body.
