I have seen many opinions on strength of individual characters that people have. While everyone agrees that the WB pirates were very strong I think many underestimate them.
Before the war started many Marines high up might have been very confident (the Admirals) but Sengoku was well aware that they might lose.
Now take the great powers of the Navy:
Garp and Sengoku
The 3 Admirals
7 Sichibukai (well not all 7)
An army of Vice-Admirals
So for the WB Pirates to have a fighting chance they somehow would have needed to counter that:
they ofc had WB himself
but they needed 3 people comparable to the Admirals, I suppose the first 3 commanders could fit the description
they needed 7 (give or take) pirates that could counter the Sichibukai, I suppost other commanders had a chance to do that
and the WBs allies had a good chance against the vice-admirals
if those criteria wouldnt have been more or less met Sengoku would be more confident
My point: many people say that that the WB commanders cant match the admirals, but I think that if that were the case WB alone against Sengoku, Garp and the Admirals the outcome wouldnt have been so uncertain, I think Marco, Ace and Jozu had power to fight the admirals, Marco took on Kizaru and Aokiji for a time, Jozu was doing good against Aokiji until he was distracted
Also: Ace was the 2nd commander so I think he should be able to handle (to some extent) Aokiji and Kizaru. Akainu was one of the worst matchups for him, think of his magma doing relatively well in normal air, it took a long time to cool down etc, now if ace used his attack Akainus attack would only become more powerful because instead of having to go through air they could stay hot going through flames, and fire cant hurt magma it can only help it (no other fighter in that war had that advantage over Ace)
what do you think?
