Hashi is still better than Madara just like Sasuke is better than Naruto FACT, if you think I'm a dumbass go and watch both final valley fights and see who won (I know we haven't seen Hashi's fight but we know who was the winner)

I think you two need a little education on the use of the word "could".
The word "could" has about 3 uses
1. Its the past tense of can. For example: When I was living in Boston, I could walk to work.
2. It can be used to make a polite request e.g Could you lend me some money?
Now the 3rd use is the one we're really interested in so pay attention. "Could" is also used to talk about theoretical possibility
e. It could rain today. Take an umbrella.
Now I believe the 3rd use applies to Madara's statement. Why? His next statement gives us a clue. He says "too bad he's no longer here with us. He then goes on to talk about how the map will be redrawn had Hashirama been there. He's clearly implying that Hashirama could stop him even now.
