I believe Tobi is Obito 100%. If Kishi says he is not I wouldn't be bothered, and i would continue to read/watch my favorite manga.

Just while we're on the subject op, let me ask you a quick question, since you brought up Orochimaru.

Let's just say Orochimaru completed his goal of taking over Sasuke's body, would you call him Orochimaru or Sasuke?

I believe Tobi is Obito 100%. If Kishi says he is not I wouldn't be bothered, and i would continue to read/watch my favorite manga.

he'd be orochi in my mind. unless he still has his conscious as sasuke (like a split personality or both fighting for control of the body) or regains it over time he will be orochi

I was hoping until the last moment that Takei wouldn't do that, but it seems that Tobi = Obito . It can at least explain his name...

I'm just curious to see how the author is going to explain that, and if it's going to make any sense in the end. IMO, he's going to have a hard time finding a convincing explanation for all that. So let's hope he just chooses the one with the least inconsistencies....

My theory is Tobi is a Zetsu of Madara.

He can shape-shift like he did when he transfored to Kisame when he fought Killer-Bee.
He showed Kisame his face and Kisame saw Madara.
When he fought Minato his hand melted off.

Well how did he know what Obito looked like or even who he is for that matter.

Danzo. He learned that there was an Uchiha buried in Kusagakure and sent out his men to retrieve him. Seriously. Danzo had his fingers in every main villian's life. Orochimaru, Nagato, Kabuto, Sasuke....Why break the cycle with Obito? >>

I have pretty much multi-quoted every post in this thread because at this point, I think now that Kishi has "identified" Tobi the only real question that Kishi should actually put time in answering and explaining is how all the Villains inter-connect since we have seen (especially in the past 20 or so chapters) that though they may be from different time-lines, they all know one another.

Madara knows Nagato
Orochimaru knows Tobi
Madara and Tobi know each other
Kabuto knows everyone

I mean it is freaking labor day weekend and I can't even enjoy it because after reading this past chapter there is not enough alcohol in the world to recover from what Kishi planted on me.

Zetsu is clearly the front runner because as said "He is the earth" and on top of that we know that Iwagakure hired Akatsuki more than any other of the 5 Shinobi Villages by far and away as stated several times in the manga. Zetsu probably scooped Obito crushed a** up, brought it to Nagato who pretended to play leader and had Orochimaru do what he could to fix him up and brainwash his a** to the point where he believes he is Uchiha Madara. Or Obito could have planned this whole thing from the ripe old age of 5, who knows. One thing I do know is I am way more interested in how they (all the major villains, etc...) all are inter-connected.

stupid... just stupid... no sense in this thread ... my 5 year old cousing would have thought better explanations... you just don't want to accept that kishi did aa bad job on this, because tobi is shown to be obito... stop defending him... i hope he at least thinks of some good ideas to fill the plotholes... i hope sasuke will do something interesting now.... and i am not one of the fools saying i'll rage quit this manga and all that bullsh*t

aren't we overcomplicating things? Tobi being Obito is quite the puzzle on its own, but if Tobi ends up being Izuna in the body of Obito with the left hand of Kagami, Madara's rinnegan and i don't know what else... that would be just too much, too much.
