Who is smarter? Sasuke or Shikamaru?

Not really succeeding when he just moved like nothing happened whatsoever, that's not a matter of intelligence at all.
Lol people associating that with intelligence, but yeah his shadow attach sure helped him out when he was about to get crushed by GM
Sasuke would have done something that someone without 200 IQ can't possibly come up with, since according to everyone baselessly if Shika has 200 IQ everyone else has much much higher.
Yeah, having a plan to hold off the Oto ninja and getting killed by them wbhich is basic team battle strategy, toooottallly more impressive than some of the stuff Sasuke has done like have Deidara fall right into his trap by using hand signs and deducing how to use lightning release vs his earth release to gain info on all of hsi bombs, all that shit.

If Tobi didn't mean to compliment Shikamaru's intelligence when he said "it's regrettable to have you as an opponent", then can u tell me what he meant? And btw, in all the DB shikamaru got 5's in intelligence. Why is that? because his intelligence is immeasurable. look at what Sasuke had at the time. Just 2!! Then again, you're comparing Shikamaru part 1 with Sasuke part 2 cos you couldn't find anything that's close to being called smart that's been done by Sasuke :shrug:
You're being illogical when comparing their intelligence cos Sauske would never, ever reach Shikamaru's level of intelligence. He is Stronger than Shikamaru, but definitely NOT smarter.

The other guy had a 3.5 in intelligence/cunning in the last databook. While considered smart, he has never been portrayed as having god-like intelligence like Shikamaru and is blessed with a sharingan. Which is basically a deus ex machina in this manga.
Do you really need to have Kishimoto come over to your house and explain why this is a stupid question? And why the guy with the over 200 I.Q. is the smartest kid in the manga and Sasuke isn't even close?
God I hate fanboys. And I am always creeped out by male Sasuke fans that hardcore defend him. I can understand the appeal with girls. But when a guy is so into Sasuke, to the point of it being a boy crush, it weirds me out.

That is impossible. Kishi writes his character and I highly doubt Kishi himself has an I.Q. that high. Shikamaru's I.Q. will be inferior to Kishi's so saying his I.Q. is over 200 is false hype.
Well since Shikamaru's intelligence is really high compared to his other attributes, it shouldn't take a genius to figure out why it is that high. Shika's intelligence were compared to other kids his age and it was deserving of a 5 because of his young age and inexperience. People such as Kakashi, Shikaku, Itachi and Minato have a higher intelligence because they are much more experienced but in time, Shikamaru will eventually surpass them.
Pretty sure that Kakashi fanboyed Sakura's intelligence too. He also complimented Naruto and Sasuke on different times and some of their plans too.
So was Minato, Itachi and Kakashi.
Maybe because Kishimoto likes his character a lot. He even says if Kishi himself was a girl, he'd go out with Shikamaru.
Well Shikamaru is not very versatile and that is pretty much all he can do. His fighting style revolves around manipulating shadows and it requires you to set up traps to bring the enemy closer to your shadows. Also just because Sasuke craps on Shika's opponents without having to use his brain or sharingan to its fullest potential doesn't mean Sasuke is dumber. This is pretty bad logic because Sasuke developed his skills to such an extent where he doesn't have to outsmart his opponents when he can just blitz, paralyse or overpower them with ease.
Hey Sasuke worked hard to improve his abilities to control the sharingan. Sasuke also worked hard to master all sorts of ninjutsu, genjutsu and taijutsu all by himself or with some help. All Shikamaru uses are shadows and his brain so obviously Shikamaru is forced to fight with his brain because he lacks the combat prowess Sasuke has.
No, Shikamaru thought that he could beat both Kakuzu and Hidan at the same time with Ino and Choji's help. If Kakashi hadn't shown up and offered to be their team leader, Shikamaru and his squad would have been easily killed. How is going on a mission without authorization and without a powerful team leader smart in any way especially against a high level Akatsuki opponent of which you have no knowledge of (Kakuzu)?
Also it took a while for Sasuke to get his revenge because he had to fight an opponent far superior to the opponent Shikamaru fought. People always look at Shikamaru's battle with Hidan and think his intelligence is unstoppable because he outsmarted Hidan which is clearly false because Hidan's intelligence rivals that of Kiba and Choji so I can see a lot people outsmarting Hidan not just Shikamaru. Sasuke outsmarted smarter characters such as Deidara and Danzo while the smartest person Shikamaru outsmarted was Temari.
Well Sasuke is put against higher standards because he is one of the main characters and because he is the last remaining Uchiha. They need to hone their skills to a much higher extent than average shinobi. Also Shikamaru is indeed smarter than Sasuke but neither has god-like intelligence and the gap isn't that big.
I already talked about the over 200 I.Q. false hype but we don't even know Sasuke's I.Q. But yeah the question on who is smarter should be obvious.

Well Joki gave us examples of both part 1 and part 2. Also Shikamaru was said to be a genius at a young age so him comparing part 1 Shikamaru to other characters is okay because even part 1 Shikamaru was extremely intelligent.

Obviously shikamaru. Sasuke having susanoo and amaterasu doesn't make him *smarter* than shikamaru. Shikamaru is probably the smartest character in the series besides his dad and maybe Kakashi.
