By that logic Jiraiya should be on there too because he was able to figure out Nagato's abilities. I still don't understand why any one would even consider comparing his intelligence to some one like Orochimaru, shikamaru, or even Itachi.

There are multiple forms of intelligence. Some people pick up ninja techs and concepts really fast, like Itachi or Kakashi. Other people can think really fast, like Minato. However IMO, IQ is the most important form, because it is the most useful outside of a ninja's life. If Itachi or kakashi wasn't a ninja, most of the basis for their claims to 'greatest genius in NU' are gone. On the other hand, Shikamaru would still have his 200+ IQ.

Hiruzen was a genius wasnt he? I dont know if you go by intellectual capabilities or physical skill, but I remember someone saying that Hiruzen - in his prime, was the strongest Hokage. Dont know about the validity of this statement, but if it was true, then that's saying something. Oh, and he must have been pretty wise as well - I know being wise and being an intellectual super power are 2 different things but, meh, he must have been a smart cookie.

I certainly agree that Minato was an excellent Ninja, but i wouldn't consider him a genius in the intelectual sense. Personally i think Shikamaru has the greatest potencial for raw intelligence.

Yeah that's why jiraiya is called one of the "genius sannin" :sy:
anyway that scan had nothing to do with itachi anyway, it was simply saying minato was a once in a decade genius. I believe the same thing was said about orochimaru.

As for who i think are the greatest genius's....in terms of strategizing Itachi, shikaku, and shikamaru are pretty much the best I've seen. Kakashi is up there as well. What he doesnt have in raw power me makes up for in wits.

I feel the reason why a lot of people are going to say itachi isnt that smart is because he has so many OP jutsu, but don't be fooled, in recent chapters we've seen just how smart he can be.

The sheer amount of jutsu mastered and knowledge accumulated would have me say orochimaru is also incredibly gifted. I can't really pick one because they are all gifted in different ways.
