Just thought I'd run this by my fellow NB members to see if it makes sense:
Many people believed that Itachi cast a genjutsu (some say Izanami) at this moment in chapter 580:
They turned out to be wrong in that regard - however, Itachi was indeed doing something right there that was essential to Izanami -> he was setting up the "starting" point of the "endless" loop.
We see shortly after the above manga page that he tells Sasuke about Izanami and says that it's already been prepared (see below).
You will then note in the most recent manga that, when Kabuto is under Izanami, the "loop" seems to start at the same moment where Itachi is stabbed and then cuts off Kabuto's horn.
That being said, I don't mean that Itachi "recorded" their fight from that point on, but rather that he used that one instance to create the starting point of each loop. As we saw in the manga, Kabuto can change his tactics in each Izanami "loop" - though with the same outcome until he chooses the path Itachi set for him.
