Er the only edo that has been upgraded is madara. The rest of the edo's have the same abilities they had when they were alive

But if it costs Itachi his eye, and it fails in anyway, it will damage his chances of winning the matchup. Itachi can afford to be reckless because he is an Edo and can regenerate.

Maybe that's what Itachi meant with Izanami having been prepared. Somehow he knew this was going to happen and SOMEHOW acquired Hashirama's DNA?

Nah, probably not. But yeah, that's my (completely wild and improbable) guess.

If izanagi is a forbidden uchiha jutsu why would they need senju

Its already need said that hashirama's dna is needed for izanagi.
I believe you dont need hashirama's dna so to speak but the will of fire will allow a sharigan uer to use either if they dont have the dna of the person who started the will of fire

So, will power grants you that ability? I'm sure Danzou had the will of fire though, his means of doing things were just abit......:| Essentially, he wanted to protect Konoha and eveyone in it :shrug: So then he wouldn't have needed Hashirama's DNA?

Will power?, somehwat. Danzo did have intention of protecting konoha, but no he didnt have the will of fire. Anyway for all you know you dont need hashirama's dna for izanami at all. Also im rather suspicious that an uchiha forbidden technique requires senju dna.

Another theory would be that people with shairgans but ARE NOT uchiha's need senju dna for either izanagi and izanami. That would explain danzo, but might also hint that tobi isnt an uchiha

i woud think the complete opposite of izanagi ...

if izanagi is cast on oneself, then izanami would be onto others... making genjutsu reality...for eg- if he wanted to make a giant meteor come out the sky, it would happen?

nice thinking. izanami being cast to others is the most likely theory for now. (though kishi likes the surprise us)

however if that's true and madara did indeed use izanami, things would turn out to be rather "interesting"

izanagi requires senju dna according to tobi, its possible izanami does also...

but he did answer the question of "why didn't you use Koto Amatsukami on sasuke yourself" by "it takes 10 years for the eye to regain Mangekyou. exluding hashirama's cells."

in that sentence I thought that shisui might've had hashirama's cells but itachi didn't.

Izanami theories

We knew there would be an Izanami but now that Itachi has explained that it comes in a pair with Izanagi and says that it can decide destiny we can now fully enjoy speculating what it will be.

My first instinct is that it is some sort of hax instant seal or kill shot kinda like reaper death seal but the caster just loses their eyesight and not their soul. Izanami, when in Yomi, was the one to tell Izanagi she would kill 1000 living souls a day, and Izanagi replied he would bring life to 1500 per day then. I think this is the part of the story that Kishi is relating these abilities to. Izanagi the ability was a way to prevent death by changing reality and preventing a death that would have occurred. Izanami must be some hax ability to kill/seal someone without a way to block it kinda like reaper death seal, or the death note book =P


On second thought though it can't be this because Itachi doesn't want to kill him right away. I have no idea how it will give Itachi the ability to end edo tensei unless it's just another hax genjutsu where you control someone.

Anyone got any good ideas?

That would just be like the genjutsu that Sasuke used on Danzo to make him think he still had an eye left, so basically that's just a basic genjutsu.

Essentially we still don't know the inner workings of the technique, so other factors which affect its use (for example, eye contact may be needed) should be thought about. I wouldn't really say he has to protect Sasuke, more like ensuring he doesn't do anything reckless, because he's not edo and will not get a second chance. Sasuke can more or less take care of himself.

As I said, i'll just wait until I see Izanami in action before I talk about matchups.

no it wouldn't be.

what sasuke did was to mindf*ck danzo and make him see things different than reality.

but what the user above said would effect the reality itself. meaning that instead of making danzo see the eye open, izanami would make it open.

and if that's the case, itachi can, let's say change the reality of all the edos running around...

but that would be too easy of a victory so I don't think that's the case

Also - why didn't Danzo use it instead of burning all his eyes for Izanagi like an idiot.

Certain it requires no eye contact as kabuto has taken extreme measures to avoid that. Secondly its counter part izanagi doesnt require eye contact therefore izanami also wouldnt require eye contact, but who knows.

Anyway if this technique is really what i think it is, then for all of naruto's hard work im sure sasuke will also get this technique. In fact im certain, and believe it or not this technique alone could put sasuke on par with bm naruto.

Imagine this, if the technique is casted on the opponent and it turns illusions into reality. Sasuke might cast it on naruto and in that illusion naruto might be a rabbit. When the illusion ends naruto becomes a rabbit in real life and sasuke kills it xd.

Alot of people might say bm naruto right now cannot be caught in an illusion, but izanami seem way too op and i believe it can work on jinckrucki's.
