I don't think Naruto is unintelligent. He appeared that way as he missed most of his basic schooling. He is also still young. He is starting to show the ability to think things through.Jounin have more than jutsu, though. It's intelligence. They don't go head first in to battles without thinking things through.
Shikamaru is the perfect example of one of the Konoha 11 that is jounin material. Even though he sticks with pretty much 1 jutsu, his intelligence makes it an awfully deadly technique.
Jiraiya had fire and earth release. Naruto isn't even close to him in terms of jutsu.naruto has just as much jutsu as jariya and he was the choice hokge
Kakashi is a jounin because of his intelligence just as much as his thousands of techniques. And Kakashi taught Sasuke how to master his sharingan and trained him with how to use chidori. Naruto was Jiraiya's student. How many techs has Kakashi taught? Honestly ranks are abut more than the number of jutsus one has.
We've never actually seen Gai prepare for a fight by himself, so we can't really say either way. And if you notice, in this war, he waited for Kakashi to tell him the plan. He didn't just start throwing punches all over the place.I don't think Naruto is unintelligent. He appeared that way as he missed most of his basic schooling. He is also still young. Gai is a Jonin and often just rushes in too xd so I don't think that will stop you becoming Jonin if you have skills
you are forgetting that naruto as conqured is inner hatred and this is something he will want to teach the all village in the future to stop wars which might break out in future as for jutsus they wont be needed if people can conquer there inner hatred it will be a good future for everyonePower isn't everything. You need intelligence as well. If he's going to be teaching genin he can't say "go in to a battle, give it your all, nearly get killed then turn in to a tailed beast". Not going to work with anyone else other than him...
I just used Gai as an illustration that not all Jonin are as highly intelligent as Kakashi etc. We certainly have seen Gai fight alone and he does sometimes rush in without thinkingWe've never actually seen Gai prepare for a fight by himself, so we can't really say either way. For this quote exactly, go back to the thread I made yesterday about Naruto's smarts being underrated please..... see what the masses thinkJounin have more than jutsu, though. It's intelligence. They don't go head first in to battles without thinking things through.

I was talking more so about fights that the team leaders prepare for, not ones that they just randomly come across, lol.I just used Gai as an illustration that not all Jonin are as highly intelligent as Kakashi etc. We certainly have seen Gai fight alone and he does sometimes rush in without thinking:

If he was taught more than that, don't you think he would have used it by now? He's been in a ton of battles since being trained.I see that's a lot of emotions floating around, either hating Naruto or loving him. I will try to address a few of the points made in this thread.
1 - Naruto trained with Jiraya for nearly 3 years alone. Do you really think that Jiraya didn't teach him more than it was shown? I agree that Jiraya didn't teach everything he knew, but certainly, he taught more than the rasegan and kuchyose alone.
Shika's IQ was over 200 back at the chuunin exams, according to Asuma. Can't imagine what it is now.2 - Yes, Shikamaru is Jounin material for sure more than any other Jounin, but let's not forget that his IQ is way above average. I would take a wild guess and say it's around 180 at least. Just remember how he played the entire battle against Kakuzu and his partner in his head and planned for every contigence and variable.
When Gai gets serious he's far from dumb. No he's not a genius, but he's also far from being dumb.3 - If intelligence is a Jounin requirement, Gai would still be at school. He is as dumb as a door knob. (no offenses to the door's knobs)
This says nothing about his intelligence, though..Just that, over time, he managed to improve his chakra control. Ebisu helped him with that.4 - Yes, Naruto is hot-headed and eager to jump in battle rather than thinking it over. But this is mostly due to his will of protecting the others, rather than plain stupidity. He knows he can take the hits better than most (or anyone else now), so he'd rather risk himself than endanger others.
5 - Despite what has been said, remember that Naruto learned the chakra control technique (walking up the tress) as fast as Sasuke who is considered a Genius. Also, let's not forget that Naruto had the kyubi chakra already leaking into his (due to the seal), what made it a lot harder for him to control his chakra flow.
Sasuke and Itachi weren't/aren't trying to move up the ninja ranks, either. Not sure how they're relevant to the conversation.6 - Also, regarding other main characters number of jutsus. Both Itachi and Sasuke pretty much only show the katon ( fire style) which is the Uchiha trade mark and the sharigan, nothing else (Sasuke has chidori). Remove the sharigan and they are left with little else. (please, I am stating a fact, not flaming Sasuke or Itachi)
7 - Sasuke has many lighting style jutsus, but if you pay close attention, they are all variations of chidori. Naruto has many variations of the Rasegan as well.
I'm not sure how that makes up for his lack of intelligence(in regards to team leading and etc).8 - Yes, Naruto was a very poor student (can't get any worse than he was) when at school. But let's remember one thing guys, he had no motivation, no parental or adult supervision to tell him to study or to clarify any doubts he might have.
9 - It has been said that once a ninja becomes a Jounin, he tries to unlock other chakra types, but not before (there are exceptions of course)
The issue here is not that he's not powerful, not that he doesn't inspire, but that he doesn't have the essentials to make it as a jounin. He could potentially be an outstanding Hokage because of his power, how he can inspire people, etc, but before that he MUST become a better strategist and given that he'll most likely have to move through the ranks, he will have to learn more than just 2 jutsu. In the end, it is fair to say that compared to Sarutobi he is lacking a lot of jutsus, and compared to some jounins as well, however if we compare Naruto to the average shinobi, he has more jutsus than most. Just take a look at Garaa who is a Kage; his only jutsus are sand based - temari only uses wind based jutsus (and mostly the same) and she is a Jounin. Their brother (forgot the name) only has puppet control, and is also a jounin. Even Neji who is a jonoha jounin only has the light hand technique ( guess that's what it's called).
Besides all that, there is also what Itachi said about how to be a Hokage. Plus, it's not the ability to think or create strategies that matter, but the ability to lead and give hope to those around you.
PS. Despite all I said, I am still not sure he would make a good teacher. Just imagine a whole generation of genin doing the sexy no jutsu? that would be sick, but would make Jiraya proud .![]()
