[Discussion] Whats the big deal with One Piece?

Ok don't bash me but I haven't seen but one episode of the show and didn't like it. But being that it has a huge following I think I might be missing something. I dislike the way they are drawn but I can get pass that if the payoff is good enough so.....

Should I watch it?

How long does it take before it gets good?

Is it still running? (Still having new episodes)

And what's the big deal about it? (Why is it good to you)

4. because the story line is awesome, there's always something new, and there's so much mystery, another reason is that I love seeing Luffy (main character) get mad.

I thought just like you. The art doesn't matter. It's different, but really doesn't matter. It's a really amazing manga. Go to at least episode 50 before throwing it out. I love it after episode 3.

Read the manga for a while until you read fights that seem cool. Then you will now its time to watch anime

Op is the sh*t and when I began reading it, I thought the animation was stupid but now love it!

It's still running and is have way through the whole series. +500 eps!

There are intense battle and unlike many anime, you will get addicted, but won't be able to finish it so fast. It's great.

4. because it was the only manga that surpassed Dragon Ball sales record, not to mention the story line is completely deep and pure epicness.

I didn't read the dbz manga either(I watched)...the only manga I have read is naruto and I just started reading that last year

Lol I understand that but that means nothing to me as like I said I don't really read manga (excluding naruto) but my point is I prefer to watch it...

not really that far i suppose, in the anime the just started the new arc and in the manga the just finished the current arc that happen in the anime,

since in OP they make 1 chapter for 1 episodeU_U

2.hmm i dunno really the first 30 episodes are good then theres the arlong saga which i didnt really like
3.ye its still running , theres gonna be another 300 or so episodes
4.its funny , imaginative , and everybody else likes it , so i was kinda pressured into it and liked it more and more

there isnt really a kiddie feel ... well not later on anyways
its kinda cheesy for 100 episodes and then theres no kiddie feel and it gets seriousss

I for one only watch one piece quite recently though I had them in my possession for quite some time...I think the main reason one would doubt whether or not one piece is good is the kiddie feels...

Frankly the first few episodes kinda feel kiddie but by the time you watched arlong park arc which is about episodes 30 I think you will find the story is rather interesting...

Truth to be told the storyline can be far more brutal than that of naruto (killing of humans and considering them pathetic as compared to merfolks) and well thought (my personal favourite alabasta arc which is about episodes 130 define on how war story in anime should be wrote)...

P/S: Only watched english subbed japanese anime, from what I know English dubbed one piece was altered to extent it is specific only for children (For instance, Cigar smoked by Captain smoker was removed)...
