To know pain is to feel pain.To overcome an obstacle is to have the will to bring it down.Strong hearts lead to strong minds. Not everyone can be strong but its the heart in you to make it work is what guides you.In the end though its still your choice and opinion. You are never right and never wrong in what you choose. In the end it's whats best for YOUR child.

Those options for a child are 1 in a thousand. Most of the time it's pure luck so you can't really dwell on that.

When a snake see's the oppurtunitie to strike he takes it.The reason a snake is lethal is because he doesn't hesitate to get what he wants, and always has the heart to strike back when faced with a bigger foe.If we all take oppurtunities we can have better lives. If we get knocked down or faced with something thats hard to over come.We get back up and try again.

Um.... Ok....?

I would have loved to have kept the kid. He or she would have been nearly 4 years old now. Issue is, my life and Felicia's would have been put on a standstill. I'm not saying it'd ruin our lives but holy hell would it make it that much harder.

I realize there's another aspect to it. If I was dumb enough to let it happen, I should reap the consequences. That's fine and dandy, but given the option to not let that kid suffer for my mistakes, I'm going to take that option. I don't regret it at all. It's her decision as much as it is mine too.

I can never imagine someone else taking care of my offspring. Never. The thought of someone else having the chance to take care of something I helped create boils my blood. I would rather abort than give someone else the chance to raise my child. I don't trust orphanages and why the hell would I trust a complete stranger to take up my responsibility? Never.

Eh mani know you.

But eh i dont wanna argue with you guys with personal experience on this subject!! I will feel too bad if i hurt someone feelings or offended someone who went through this!! Ugh

I feel you tho. I wouldnt want anybody else to raise my child but if that was the best choice for the child than so be it. Its not about what i want or what makes me happy. As a parent you are obligated to do everything you do for the benefit of your child!!

Taking your child life to prevent it from being raised by someone else or to prevent it from suffering from your mistakes or actions or prevent it from having a "sad" upbringing is wrong!!!! You deny your child life! Life is not rainbows and unicorns, nobodies life is perfect or more perfect than anyones elses. Even if you abort to prevent the child from experiencing a painful life you still deny it life, life comes with misery after all. And every tough situation can be turned around, whetger chances are 1/1000 or 1/10000000000 you abort than the child chances are 0.

I cant find any excuse for abortion. Sorry if im soo opiniated, not trying to offend you man or anyone else for that matter...

all threads like this do is give people a reason to stand on their moral high grounds you can't argue with people on this issue because some people think that life begins at conception, some think that life begins at birth, and still some believe life starts at a child's first conscious thoughts since it's difficult to near impossible to gauge the former or later than the 2nd opine must be right correct? I don't know I don't have any children and I've never known anybody who had to face the moral dilemma of keeping a child or aborting one. As most of you seem to be in favor of keeping the child no matter what the circumstances. I'm not by nature a contrarian but the last time I checked we don't have any laws that govern what people can do to or with their own bodies and I'm not a judge so I won't do it here in any case I do believe a woman has the right to choose what she can do with her body...imo

Guys, I have a great plan. I will become super duper rich and will adopt all the orphans and all those animals in the Sarah Maclachlan commercials.

Deal? Deal.

Please, before you read on, understand that I love discussions such as these. I do not take offense to anything you could possibly say. I enjoy that there's actually opposition to my way of thinking and it helps me learn and understand more.

I would rather have the ability to raise my child in a better environment than what I lived through growing up. I am not denying it life, I am protecting it from a life of hardships and potential dangers. Which is worse? That's not a question meant to be answered but to be pondered upon. We obviously have very different moral obligations.

Life does not mean misery and everything that can be considered similar to the meaning of that word. I feel life should be about the experiences as hypocritically as it sounds! If I can prevent my child from living a harsh life for most of its younger years, then I would. I can not guarantee that now considering my life is so inconsistent. I couldn't bear the pain of having to let my child go for a certain amount of time and playing catch up when I get back. I'm sure Felicia feels the same way since she has a huge decision to be made ahead of her.

Thanks. What you said makes me feel a little more at ease.

I understand what you mean. I truly do. But you can never gaurantee your child a hardship free life. You can give it a life where itll have less hardships and a better pleasurable experiences in life but nothing ever perfect.

Even denying a child hardships is denying it its rights to go through those hardships, as silly as that may sound.

And who are we that we can be so sure of the future? A childs future may not be the brightest but you never know, things could have gotten better or things could get better.

I can understand not wanting to bring up a child in a not-so-great environment, however..

I don't understand how completely denying it of any form of life is better. Maybe growing up in a harsh place would push the child to be successful and have a great life so that in the future he or she would be able to raise their own kids in an amazing environment. Or, maybe not. Either way I don't get it.

I didn't have the greatest time growing up. I'd often go without dinner, I'd have to listen to people at school talk about all the cool games and movies they've played/watched while my parents could hardly afford to buy me new shoes. On top of it, my parents fought a lot. It sucked, it really did. But you know what? I got through it, I love life now, and I don't spend my days going "Man, this sucks. I wish I was aborted".

Maybe my situation wasn't that bad. Maybe a mere lack of money and occasional hostility isn't what people deem a "bad environment", maybe it gets WAY worse. In that case, I wouldn't understand, and so I guess I can't really speak on it. I'm just gonna stick with the comment I made previously in this thread:

I think abortion is only right when the mom's life is at stake, or I guess if she was raped. If you happen to be fooling around with your boyfriend and get pregnant - too bad for you. You shouldn't be having *** if you're not prepared for that small chance of actually getting pregnant.

Sometimes I'm pro choice

Sometimes I'm anti

Most days Idc

It may seem hypocritical of me at times and out right insensitive, but the fact is I've never been in a situation myself where this would affect me and unless people actually experience such situations like this (females getting pregnant and facing the choice and males who are the father, given they are involved willingly in such matters with the female) people can say whatever they want but shit can change.

Gin-san's posts are my favorite and the one's I respect the most in this thread because he says it's all based on up bringing, culture, society, religion, etc. Some people have their base opinions and some don't. I voted unsure in the poll even though I'm all three (I just couldn't pick one so I put the one I'm more frequent with). However those base opinions may or may not change if those people once they're put into the situation where it affects them.

Right now, I really don't care. The millions of people out there who are faced with the problem of whether or not to abort their children are not affecting me at this given point in time. They're not close family or friends (90% sure and a member in my family had an abortion, it didn't make me feel too many ways.), I'm nobody's baby daddy and I have too much other crap to worry about to consider this so I'll say good luck and I'll sympethize with those who are in the hot spot because I know it's not easy but other then a pat on the back I'm done...that's just today (and most other days)

To tell the truth, only times I begin to care about it is when I'm watching Law&Order SVU (my favorite L&O series)

Lol everybody here says " No abortion is bad its for cowards" just to seem like a "good" person but at the end of the day if you think you got your gf/wife prego(unplanned) the. 1st thing that will go through your head most likely is going to be abortion/morning after pill so until you've been in that situation you can't really say for sure. So IN MY OPINION abortion is ok, if its legal in US then it can't be bad enough to get everybody butthurt and make a big deal out of it. So if ur pro choice or pro life who cares its not likr it affects you and like how its been said before everyone will have factors that influence ones decision wether it be religion, culture, friend/family pressure so if it doesnt affect you personally WHO CARES! U.U

I support abortion on terms that if a female is not in a physical, or mental condition to have a a child it should surely not be forced on her. If she is abused, raped or got pregnent in such a forcefull way should be clear that its not her fault. If its a girl in her teenages with no income, and no financial balance where she could be able to provide the child with all it needs it should allso not be forced upon her. This is my opinion on that matter.

In life there is no such thing as no hardships. Only through hardships that we are provided or provide ourself is where we grow as a human. Of course life is as hard as you make it. But learning from mistakes, experiencing everything from solitude, anger, sadness, grief. Its a all apart of life. The hardships can surely be reduced, but i think its quite important for a child to grow up.

I think its simply wrong to deny them abortion when they have a option for it, and when they truelly need it. These Pro-life conservatives are obsessed with the fetus from conception to nine months.

Question is why is there so many people against abortion? Now, is a fetus a human being? This seems to be the central question. Well, if a fetus is a human being, how come the census doesn't count them? If a fetus is a human being, how come when there's a miscarriage they don't have a funeral? If a fetus is a human being, how come people say 'we have two children and one on the way' instead of saying 'we have three children?' People say life begins at conception, I say life began about a billion years ago and it's a continuous process. Continuous, just keeps rolling along. Rolling, rolling, rolling along.

See the really hardcore people will tell you life begins at fertilization. Fertilization, when the sperm fertilizes the egg. But even after the egg is fertilized, it's still six or seven days before it reaches the uterus and pregnancy begins, and not every egg makes it that far. Eighty percent of a woman's fertilized eggs are rinsed and flushed out of her body once a month during those delightful few days she has. They wind up on sanitary napkins, and yet they are fertilized eggs. So basically what these anti-abortion people are telling us is that any woman who's had more than more than one period is a serial killer!

abortion is an escape for a coward.

Consider about a coward - Who's afraid of taking responsibility. But there are chances that you either think about *** with protection or without protection. And with protection your saved. Without protection theres option called "birth control" but they have to act in short time. What am i pointing out is "it doesn't matter that some one is a coward" - it only matters that "are you stupid enough to realize the Responsibility?"
Okay then whenever you going to have *** or loose your control think about responsibility (one time is fine).

I only read the first two pages and skimmed other. I agree with whoever said that this kind of discussion rarely goes anywhere because people in them are usually taking the moral high ground when theyve never been in a situation that would press it.

Yes I agree that an abortion just because your not ready isn't good (mostly for teenageers) and that you should have taken the precautions to avoid the situation so sack up and deal with the consequences. If it was rape then it is acceptable to abort but I still don't think it's ok to have one because "you don't want it" but can't you be sypathetic with the kid giving up their future for possibly one slip up? As humans we're not perfect and you want to condemn them to a limited future? Yes they still have the opportunity to be happy but the predicament the teenager is put in to support the child properly and not on a minimum wage job is difficult. Take that into consideration before you mindlessly rant because your just being naive and ignorant of the situation retard.

Murder?
And for the people screaming it's murder by definition murder is the premeditated killing of another human being. The embryo or even fetus if shes that far along isn't considered a human being or alive by definition so it isn't murder. Yes it has the potential to be alive but it isn't so please use the correct terms you grunting baffoons.

It having the potential for being alive, means on the other hand that its not alive. Im trying to find some consistency in this abortion arguements people mostly does not even understand what happens anatomicly. I tell them 'Think of an abortion as term limits. That's all it is. Bioligical term limits.

I'm against abortion, but the truth is, i'm NO ONE to tell others what to do, so that makes me pro choice.

The suffering in many of the abortions is enough.

Heres my take on this. If a woman was raped or was a victim of incest, then they should have the choice to abort or not. If a man rapes a woman, that woman has no rights bestowed upon her if she is forced to keep the baby she didnt commit to having. Having a child is a labor of love, not a labor of unprotected ***. Basically, once a girl or woman is raped all her dreams are shattered. Going to college, furthering her interests or even earning more for her future are all lost if she is forced a life changing choice upon herself. Those are all taken out if a woman is forced to keep a baby that was a product of rape. She should have the choice more than anyone to keep it or not.

However, if its a product from senseless, promiscuous teens who just cant use a freaking condom then by all means make them keep it. They shouldnt toy around with lives by continuously having intercourse and then aborting over and over once a fetus has developed. That is the cruelty in the abortion discussion, where careless people just put lust over life and dont want to use protection. The murderers are the one who are voluntarily giving and taking life, while the victims are the ones who are not at fault for something they couldnt control.

Before any of you flag me down, my parents neglected me as a child and I was raised by my sisters, my grandmother and I looked out for my younger brother. They practically abandoned me over 12-13 years of my life and are now trying to come into my life as soon as Im a young adult. I look at them and want to ask, where was the love? Where was the life you were supposed to give to me while everyone was suffering. These two willingly played with the lives of my siblings and I as though we were merely just a burden to them. My grandmother, may she rest in peace, showed me the love and life that I lacked. I became a child of my own, and now I am proud of myself for turning out the way I did. Not once did I turn to the darker aspects of life.

The point Im trying to make here is that despite whether I was given life or not, it wouldnt have changed the way my parents treated me in the long run. I was given a death as life, a suffering to scar me for the majority of my entire life. However, the difference here is that if I had found out that my mother was a victim of rape I would have burdened all of her inactions on myself. I would have become this empty, hollow shell that is to blame for what is wrong with my mother. But my mother was not a victim, so all the blame was on her.

I wouldnt want to grow up having all of this hatred built up towards a woman who was never given a chance to live even her own life. That would have scarred me even more! At least with the life that I lived, I could learn something from all of that suffering and know not to be like the people who gave me life! If I was a product of rape and learned of why I was here, then it would have given me this sense of displacement. It would give me a terrible feeling as though I was the reason why my mother couldnt live her life, I wasnt born through love so im not loved, etc. etc. I would have become 'emo' if you put it that way. That could lead to suicidal thoughts or cutting to a terrible degree.

By giving victims a chance to look over themselves and decide whether or not they are in a position to care for their child would give them options. They could decide if they have the power to care for this child for many years or if a lifetime of suffering would only hurt this child more in the long run. But for those who are willing to toy with life, let their child learn from a bad example and deter themselves away from repeating what their careless parents did to them. Im here willing to say that my pain made me stronger and into the incredible person I am today. Not trying to sound conceited but I look at myself and see that no matter what I did, I always stayed the best because I didnt want to end up like my parents.

I would appreciate if no one would return any harsh or biting responses to this. Telling my personal story is something I hardly ever do at all, and it tears me up every single time. So if you have nothing nice to say or think Im siding with murderers then keep it to yourself.
