Didn't I state several times already that Jirayia is much more powerful than Kakashi? Naah, that can't be it... ;D
Besides:
1) Kakashi doesn't want to be Hokage.
2) In part I he was MUCH weaker than in part II, he might have not been kage-level just yet then.

which is good because if Konoha is asking Kakashi to be Hokage means their backs are against the wall plus I personally can't recall Kakashi stating that he didn't want the title of Hokage...

He took a little time for planning. Besides, don't forget there were 6 other swordsmen there present as well. He had to be careful to avoid all of them while attacking Zabuza. And they are the 7 most powerful swordsmen produced within Kirigakure.

When he went 1 on 1 with Kakashi, it took him quite some time. I understand he still had some plotting with the other 6 swordsman, but he still had some difficulties.

lol this guy. +rep

You too, seem to miss the point. EVERYTHING in the manga indicates he is easily kage-level. While you guys try to tell me I argue with Kishimoto himself, it is, and that's funny, YOU who misunderstand his intention for Kakashi.

A great example is aftermath of Kakuzu & Hidan fight.
Kishimoto, through the words of Kakashi, stated Kakashi would have defeated Kakuzu anyway.
Now some of you say "No, he wouldn't" and then tell me not to argue with Kishimoto's point of view. xd

Seriously, that's more than ridiculous! :D

The Zabuza's generations of swordsmen is said to be the strongest ever. Additionally, Suigetsu's brother, who was said to master all of the seven swords, was called "the second coming of the devil himself", the first one seems to have been Zabuza, as only he was called a devil as well.
Thus, Zabuza is supposedly one of the strongest members of the strongest swordsmen generation. It's not a dishonour for Kakashi in any way that he got rid of him in two blows instead of one.

Oh, he did state it when he was nominated for Hokage after Danzo's death. Don't feel like searching for the page now, but if You really insist I may provide it to You. ;)

First of all, hello guys, as this is my first post in Narutobase ^^
Actually I registered mainly to write it.

In my opinion, Kakashi is REALLY underrated. I got some evidence to back up this statement and here it goes:

Pure information stated in the manga:
The following info comes directly from the manga, so it should be considered true.

-Kakashi is famous for copying and knowing more than one thousand different techniques. I don't think any proof is needed for that, but anyway
-Kakashi's Sharingan was actually stated to be on similar level as Itachi's.
-Kakashi cut a lightning in half
-Kakashi would kamui (=win against) Kakuzu in case Naruto hadn't arrived.
-Pain admitted Kakashi would mean trouble for Akatsuki if he stayed alive.

As the evidence I have links to the proper manga pages, but I can't post them yet, of course. :p
Edit: Added the links.

My conclusions:
Yep, now these are not as solid facts as the ones stated above, but it doesn't mean they are not based on manga. For these, I'm sure many people will disagree with me. I think it's still worth analyzing, though.

-Kakashi was holding his ground when fighting Itachi in part I as long as Itachi didn't use MS. The fact that MS is exhausting for Itachi, we can assume he wouldn't use it if it wasn't really necessary. Thus, I think without Itachi's MS, the fight would be quite even and long. Even if Kakashi lost at the end, it would still take considerable effort for Itachi to take him down.
-Kakashi was actually an inch (literally :p) from killing Deva Path. And it should be noted that Deva fought evenly with six-tailed Naruto.

Now, a bonus question for those nice enough to read all of this!
How much more, including being nominated for Hokage and fighting several bijuus at once, do you need to admit Kakashi is easily Kage-level ninja and not your average Jonin?

Bolded statement: I don't think Kakashi's Sharingan is on the same level as Itachi's, I think he meant that they were both on the level of Mangekyou Sharingan.

This is great, seriously, Kakashi is very underrated and I have always underestimated him for some reason, thanks for this :D +Rep

heyy take it easy friend, im not on anyones side. i agree with you that he is underrated, i see ppl doing it all the time. But at the same time the guy had a good point, fact are facts, and thats what ppl need to know. thats why i repped him :)..p.s. i just wanted to throw in that kakashi couldve killed kakuzu he were to have used his kumai and if he didnt have to watch over the youngins

Thanks, I'm glad to hear my arguments were convincing. :)
For Sharingan's level, Deidara might have meant the level of Kamui to be the same as Itachi's MS techniques, however, it's not explictly stated in the manga so it might be either the technique, the MS, or the Sharingan altogether.

Facts are facts, that's right. ;) And that's also why I find it ridiculous to deny Kakashi's option to kamui Kakuzu and at the same time telling me Kishimoto thinks otherwise. xd
Thanks, though. :)

Ok the zabuza generation has nothing to do with his encounter with kakashi vs zabuza. That is my argument. He is the greatest strategizer that we know. I accept that. I am talking about 1 on 1 with zabuza, the fight was not good on Kakashi's part. U can keep making the claim that the generation was good but the generation has nothing to do with what goes on with the one on one. Regardless there is no point to rate him higher because we do not see him fight often.

Here :) And sorry for misleading You, that was said when Danzo was still alive, but escaped from Kage meeting.
Also, it's worh to note what Yamato said: "I have a feeling everyone will agree right away". This indicates that Kakashi is not just a back-up Hokage candidate and actually a real deal. Although, as I said, it's an indication, not a proof.

Don't get me wrong, I used the generations as a means to show my argument as why Zabuza is powerful.
Don't forget he killed all graduates from the Kiri Academy single-handely before obtaining any shinobi training. Then, he was powerful enough to try to assassinate Mizukage. He's certainly not kage-level, but above jonin for sure.

Kakashi faced far stronger ninja. He should have done better. Kakazu. Pain. Etc.

zabuza was indeed strong. ppl seem to underestimate him as well. if he were alive now he would be right behind kakashi in the databook

He defeated him in two moves. What's wrong with such a victory?

He took one heart and by surprise from Kakazu, the rest of the fight he got his a** whooped and with Pain........................Do I honestly have to say it?

i have to admit hes under-rated but not that much, i think this war will show us him at his very best, if he didnt have such low chakra reserves he would be alot stronger and because he has low chakra reserves he holds back unless he really needs to use all of his strengh, i will admit kakashi is at a level to be hokage,

Heyo, we're talking about Kakashi VS Edo Zabuza here. :p

And as You already mentioned it, I don't see Kakashi having his ass whooped during the fight with Kakuzu, especially since he was attacked by another Akatsuki at the same time and had to waste chakra (on which he's low) to protect team 10.
As for Pain... he almost defeated the strongest od the paths.

kakashi is just a wannabe uchiha ,to0 bad he donot have the stamina for it

Still he's better with his Sharingan than almost whole Uchiha clan. Besides some exceptions like Itachi, Madara, Sasuke...

Well, Pain decided to send another body to help Deva and I guess the best explanation is - he was afraid of Kakashi defeating Deva.
Additionally, another body arrived quite some time before Kakashi's back-up so Kakashi had to fight 1 VS 2 for a considerable amount of time.

He had not even touched deva before preta arrived he used raikiri once, his lightning dog, earth wall and then lightning clone and after the clone died back up arrived and kakashi said he was at half chakra, choza and choji damaged preta Kakashi never hit deva and only hit preta because he blocked Kakashi while deva was in his cooldown from blowing choji and choza away.
