I'm going to go ahead and call shenanigans on that one. You can put the 9-tails inside of anyone and make them strong.
So what if you put it inside someone who already is way stronger than kakashi?
Like minato? Or how about Itachi? Then neither of them would ever lose. So saying that if you put the 9-tails inside kakashi he would be super strong is ridiculous because anyone would be if given that power.

First of all, hello guys, as this is my first post in Narutobase ^^
Actually I registered mainly to write it.
In my opinion, Kakashi is REALLY underrated. I got some evidence to back up this statement and here it goes:
Pure information stated in the manga:
The following info comes directly from the manga, so it should be considered true.
-Kakashi is famous for copying and knowing more than one thousand different techniques. I don't think any proof is needed for that, but anyway
You must be registered for see links
-Kakashi's Sharingan was actually stated to be on similar level as Itachi's.
You must be registered for see links
-Kakashi cut a lightning in half
You must be registered for see links
-Kakashi would kamui (=win against) Kakuzu in case Naruto hadn't arrived.
You must be registered for see links
-Pain admitted Kakashi would mean trouble for Akatsuki if he stayed alive.

As the evidence I have links to the proper manga pages, but I can't post them yet, of course.
Edit: Added the links.
My conclusions:
Yep, now these are not as solid facts as the ones stated above, but it doesn't mean they are not based on manga. For these, I'm sure many people will disagree with me. I think it's still worth analyzing, though.
-Kakashi was holding his ground when fighting Itachi in part I as long as Itachi didn't use MS. The fact that MS is exhausting for Itachi, we can assume he wouldn't use it if it wasn't really necessary. Thus, I think without Itachi's MS, the fight would be quite even and long. Even if Kakashi lost at the end, it would still take considerable effort for Itachi to take him down.
-Kakashi was actually an inch (literally ) from killing Deva Path. And it should be noted that Deva fought evenly with six-tailed Naruto.
Now, a bonus question for those nice enough to read all of this!
How much more, including being nominated for Hokage and fighting several bijuus at once, do you need to admit Kakashi is easily Kage-level ninja and not your average Jonin?
It actually is an exaggeration because if you were being fair then you definitely need to give credit to Chouji, and Chouza as well, because Kakashi would have never gotten to that point without them.
So if you were to say "Kakashi, Chouza, and Chouji almost killed Deva Path" then that would be a correct statement. As it is you are giving all the credit to Kakashi which he didn't earn.
And to your post about what databook stats we can or cannot use. It is very obvious which ones can be compared to other people.
Certain things are constant (barring sickness or injury), like speed, and chakra levels. Whereas other things like the genjutsu rating, or the taijutsu rating, are totally variable as there are weaknesses and strengths that come into play when comparing people.
Like if Neji or Kakashi were to fight in a taijutsu match, who do you think would have the advantage? Their databook stats are about equal in taijutsu, but in a pure taijutsu match Kakashi has the distinct disadvantage. So those type of things are variable whereas speed is a constant no matter who you are fighting. Same as chakra levels, and strength.
So yes you can distinguish between what attributes to compare. It is easy to make the distinction.
First of all, it was Kakashi's plan altogether and Choji and Choza were just a part of it. It's not that Kakashi used their power, he used them to hold the chain. Any weak Chuunin or even Genin would do this just as well. Of course this is true that Kakashi needed them for his plan, but saying it's "Kakashi, Choji and Choza who almost defeated Deva" is a bit too much.
What's more, you seem to be forgetting that it's only because of Preta who delayed Raikiri that Kakashi wasn't able to hit Deva in time. Chances are without Choji and Choza and without Preta Kakashi would be able to kill Deva. It's not a proof, it's probability. After all: Preta > Choji & Choza.
As for the stats, if Kishimoto said not to compare them with other characters', I guess You shouldn't compare them with other characters'. No matter what you deem "obvious".

I thought that I said all that I had to say but it seems I was wrong. Comparing Kakashi to other Shinobi is not how you should determine Kakashi's strength. Kakashi is strong because he's well-rounded. Putting Kakashi in a taijutsu match against Neji is just wrong. Neji's specialty is the Gentle Fist, his whole life training has been based on that. Kakashi didn't have that type of focal point in training so of course he's going to lose. Now put Neji vs Kakashi in a free-for-all and we all know that Kashi got that one in the bag. Kakashi's in a league of his own. Every shinobi we've see so far (call me out if I'm wrong) has some type of specialty or focal point of their training. Something that they spent their lifetimes mastering. The people you are comparing him to like the kages, Chouji and his father, Gai, Jaraiya, Neji, Sasuke, they are people that are great at the one thing that they do and if you try to pin Kakashi against these people while they are using their specialty it's kinda unfair. Kakashi's hard to talk about because he doesn't have that one thing he's the shit at but he's great at all things. (As I said in my previous posting) There aren't many you can say that for. Pein, Itachi maybe, one day Sasuke could join this list (if he stops using his sharingan like it's a pistol and do other stuff) Naurto doesn't even fall in this category, Minato doesn't even fall in this category (his specialty were seals and summoning and he used that to base his time-space jutsu on creating the thunder god technique) and even though he doesn't have that one type of fighting technique that call him out, he can still hold his own (not always win) against those that do.
(Some might say that his Sharingan is that one thing but it just enhanced the normal ninja skills that he has and not really stand out as its own weapon like Sasuke's and Itachi's so I don't think it counts)
