No one can tell any way that the third would beat Minato. I defy any person to tell me how Minato would lose to Hiruzen. Please do it. It isn't possible.

All we have is hype from Iruka saying that Hiruzen was the strongest Hokage, which is utter lunacy. Hiruzen might be the second weakest Hokage above Tsunade.

Why do people say Hiruzen in his prime? He was only in his 60's. Plus we have never seen his prime, but it can't have been that awesome if he needed 20+ high level shinobi to fight off the nine-tails with him, while Minato was fighting the 9-tails all by himself.

But once again, to the insane people who say Hiruzen, please tell me how. Just make one battle scenario where hiruzen wins.

Now you don’t seem slow, so I can’t fathom how you can claim, as a fact, that Hiruzen doesn’t have a counter to FTG, when we know for a fact that Hiruzen mastered every technique in Konoha .It was also said in the latest official fan book that he had a counter to every tech, including the EMS. Abscense of evidence is not evidence of abscense.It is not my job to prove that he can (I have both the manga and databook as sources), no it is your job…and until proven otherwise he can utilize all those techs (that aren’t KG’s). You can’t just say that he doesn’t know a clan’s secret technique without backing it up with pages from the manga. Instead of praising Hiruzen for being a beast for, in his prime, ranking over guys like the third raikage, Onoki and Yagura (who are all amazing) you go the other route and question Kishi, which is absurd. Kishi is very careful with his statements, and he had plenty of opportunities to declare a new strongest Kage during this war arc, but he didn’t. Instead he said things like “the third raikage was stronger than all the raikage’s before him”. See the distinction?

First off, this match up is dumb since we got no feats on hiruzen but going on hype he would destroy minato.

Facts:

- God of shinibo(only other guy who got that privilege was the SO6P himself)
-The strongest hokage of them all ( fact from both manga and databook)
-The strongest Kage in his generation(facts from both manga and databook )
-The professor(He not only knew every jutsu in Konoha but also mastered them)
-Prodigy
-He had 5 in anything that wasn't affected by age(and several people mentioned during his fight that he was nowhere near his prime)
-Defeated two kages and managed to stop oro from taking over konoha,as a 68 years old man

Hiruzen was trained by Hashirama and Tobirama and produced the legendary sannin, while Minato taught a bunch of nobodies. Kakashi being the strongest and we have all seen his limits as a shinobi. Obito who? Are we talking about the worst uchiha kid we have seen? Ryn…run…rin? What’s her name? I think you catch my drift….

Hiruzen had no KG, or special modes like SM, so obviously his prime was in his youth (limited window) when he could utilize his massive chakra reserves and brilliant mind to use all his techniques. How hard is that to understand? He was retired when fox attacked, meaning he wasn’t the strongest in the village anymore. He chased the kyuubi away (he was the leader), and he somehow survived a tail beast bomb since he proclaimed “never again”. Finally his biggest accomplishment was that he became the longest sitting hokage in history, while maintaining konoha’s position as nr 1 villag.

I like how u've backed ur points but most of them are plot and hype no jutsu. Hurizen trained 3 good sanin student in his lifetime, minato had 1, doesnt mean shit. Oro was already a genius young lad, tsunade - senju, jiraiya - weak until decided to get strong for female attention(wasnt really inspired my teacher). Hurizen being a professor was probably a better teacher tho. Remember, u dont choose ur student

Many guys are hating FTG, but even if you say its overhyped, a nearly perfect Space time jutsu, is maybe the worst that could happen to you right after confrontin Juubi or Kyuubi!

What I say is, that Hiruzen (as strong as he is) cant perform handseals with lightningspeed.
Ninjutsus cant harm a concentrated Minato (STB or just porting somewhere else)
Taijutsu isnt a good Idea, cause of his markings.
Genjutsu could maybe work, but do we know a strong Genjutsu, Hiruzen has?
We also dont know, if Minato has had any Genjutsus.

So I still say Minato would win that battle (FTG doesnt need chakra) Hiruzen cant use Ninjutsus 4ever. He will get tired.

Three things. one in an episode of Naruto j man told Naruto there were some jutsu's that the 4th developed that even him and the previous kage (being the third) couldn't grasp.
two the third was considered the strongest or most skilled hokage out of all of them (look it up ). and three.
