Aisatsu Generally called "greetings"...

1. Hajimemashite : Greetings
2. Ohayou gozaimasu : Good morning
3. Konnichiwa : Good day
4. Konbanwa : Good Night
5. Ogenki desuka : How do you do
6. Oyasuminasai : Get rest
7. Arigatou gozaimasu : Thanx a lot
8. Itadakimasu : Lets eat (Ask to eat)
9. Gochisou sama : I'm Full (After eating)
10. Ittekimasu : I'm going
11. Itterasshai : Bon voyage (answer for ittekimasu)
12. Tadaima : i'm home ( when entering house)
13. Okaeri : Welcome (answer for tadaima)
14. Sumimasen : Excuse me
15. Gomen kudasai : excuse me (when knocking doors)
16. Shitsurei shimasu : i'm sorry if bothering you
17. sayounara : good bye
18. moshimoshi : Hello (on phone)
19. Gomennasai : i'm sorry / forgive me
20. Mata aimashou : see you

I actually created a Japanese language thread in this section a little while ago, with full lessons and downloads, but there weren't many people who were interested so I dropped it. I still think it is a good idea though, it's just that it is hard to organsise such a thing in just one thread.

Perhaps this will work better, though. A simple question and answer section about Japanese. Good luck with it

Sounds cool, i found your lessons Kookie, and the thing with translating was nice, but i didn't get how to understand any of the words, or say a sentence with fonetical letters.

Just a simple note.
Teaching a foreign language requires knowledge of 2 languages at the least.
Meaning that if you are trying to teach an English person japanese, you'd obviously teach them the meanings of japanese words in their mother tongue, meaning English.
What you typed in your post, as well as in your title, is even far from being 3rd cousin to english.

yep.And also you have to make sure you teach them the japanese version of japanese and not just random japanese words with the translation.
And its not that easy to learn japanese like you make it seem.You actually need to teach the grammer/rules/hirigana/katakana first.

Hi there. I didn't actually get to the sentence structures yet. When I teach, I like to do it slowly, one element of the time, and I tend to think that understanding hiragana and katakana is the first step of understanding how Japanese is built up.

I actually have a lot more lessons stored, including sentence structure, grammar, easy dialogue and pronunciation, but since I had virtually no feedback I just assumed no one was reading them, so I figured what's the point.

If, by any chance, a good number of people express a wish for me to continue my lessons, I shall gladly continue what I started. My further plan was to plead to the admin to give me a sub-forum, so that I can easily arrange each topic into a single thread, but there is no way they will let me do that if only one or two people are interested in the lessons.

Mugen-Sama: If you head off to my thread and have a look at my lessons, feel free to make suggestions.

WELL, the important thing is we learn.....learning a language would take a lot of effort and time yet, the simple fact that he ( the one who post the thread) would like and willing to share his knowledge of the japanese language is but a welcome to us who likes to learn and this person should be admired of not to be confronted negatively.......I in particular is grateful to him atleast even a single word could mean a lot to me..thanks to him....
