It would be a proper way to thank members for making good points, arguments or some other positive things.
Don't really have so good reasoning for this, just thought it would be cool to have that kind of feature. Like for example youtube uses this.
Okay didn't know there was a thank u button. Just thought that thumbs up would be simple way. 'Cause it's just easy and fast to just click it one time. And it would be easy to spot.
Rep button I know but don't think that most of the people even use it or know that it exists.
It would also be better and faster way to noobs to believe their obvious theory is wrong and stupid if they saw the thumbs up count for his/her theory critic comment/comments.
Every post has a green flag in the right upper corner, if you click on that you can give the person who made the post reputation points.
There's only one other way to give people reps and that's to click on the thank you button in the right lower corner, however only the maker of the thread has that button so that way you can only give the maker reps. And no we aren't going to make such a button for every post as we have the green flag and I have seen what happens on other forums who have that option. They made a sport out of it to click on that button every time someone trolls the forum, so no we are not going to make such a button for every post.
Clicking on the 'Thank You' button (above) gives the thread creator 5 reputation points. The thanks shows at the bottom of the original post. You may thank as many threads as you like.

Clicking on the green flag (above) opens a dialog box (below) in which you can choose to approve (give positive reps) or disapprove (give negative reps). The amount of positive rep points given is determined by the user's rep power. The (positive or negative) reputation is not public. It is only viewable to the individual and forum staff. Individual reputation cannot be given consecutively.

Addendum: Do not frivolously give out reps, as reps are one forum stat that actually mean something.

For that we have the red flag which is to the right of the green flag. That way you can give people negative reps.
Moreover, you can rate the threads in the upper right hand corner of the thread in case that you don't like a theory you give a bad rate- one star, but if you like it you can give 5.
