Except Madara, Pain was obviously the strongest Akatsuki member. If Itachi (healthy) fought him, he would be able to destroy couple of bodies (around four, I think), but he would lost. Pain was fu**ing war machine, that could own village by hiself. With three bodies (without the strongest one) he was able to push Jiraiya in HM to his limits. True, Jiraiya maneged to trap them in illusion, but battleground was huge advantage to him, he had many places he could hide. If battle took place on more neutral ground, he could not have been so lucky. Also Deva path by hiself was powerful enough to own Naruto in SM and all frogs within... one chapter? Itachi was also very, very strong (shinobi above sannins level), but not as Pain.

itachi is one of the best if not the best @ ending fights quickly due to his seemingly low chakra like kakashi's...was it due to overuse of MS or illness? who knows they'll prob never disclose that info...but because of his low chakra set he isnt going to be able to handle six or basically seven ppl..idc wat u say and itachi is my fav...i think hes a better ninja than pain but he'll fade at the end like against sasuke(even tho he let him win) because it'll be a long drawn out fight which doesnt favor him...1on1 itachi will own almost any ninja but beating pain is a little much to ask of a lot of ninja...maybe if he had kisame with him...maybe

Detecting someone's presence is not the same as stopping genjutsu, how old are you, 7?

The only reasons the other pain's were up on their feet was because they were resurrected. Show me a link to anywhere in the manga which says or suggests that Pain can overcome genjutsu. The reason the toads did'nt try it again is because that toad song takes time, unlike tsukiyomi.

2. Are you serious ? Duuuude, Jiraiya clearly says that the only thing that could burn through was amaterasu. Nothing else was used. Also, Itachi is on a whole other level. Itachi pretty much won the fight against Sasuke while he was on the brink of death.

2. He HAD to lose his sharingan to save his life(izanagi against konan). After that he decided to implant the rinnegan.

1. Surviving pains Attacks
2. Targeting a bulls eye on negates eyes with tsukoyomi

Oh and sasuke's progress with Amaterasu is now higher than itachi's
