Okay, let me also analyse it...

When Naruto was 12, Tsunade was said to be 50.
Hence, Jiraiya was also 50...
Now when Naruto is 16, Jiraiya must have had 54

16 Years ago, when Kyuubi attacked and Minato died, Jiraiya must have had 38 Years old...

Minato was placed under Jiraiya's supervision at 10 years old and Minato surely took charge of Kakashi at around 17 years old...
Let suppose now that he took 1 Year to win the 3rd War, 3 to create Rasengan, some months to pass on the legacy of Rasengan to others and finally, 9 months till the birth of Naruto and his death.
So when Minato died, he should have approximately 17+5 = 22 Years old.

So when Jiraiya began training Minato, he was around 38-12 = 26 Years...

He trained the Ame Orphans for 3 Years, so let's say that Jiraiya left them, he was 24 and when he met them, he was 21...

Hence Jiraiya fought the "so-called" great Hanzo at 21...

Now let' us continue to see the difference in age between Nagato....

Nagato saw Hanzo at let's say around 10 Years old...
He trained 3 Years...He was 13...
When he beat up Pain, they seem in the 17s-20s...
Still, I took the maximum for you (20 years old even if I think that he was 18)
This makes 20 Years (Hanzo defeated) to 10 years old (first met Hanzo), it's thus a 10 Year gap.

I think my calculations are correct, atleast I hope so :p (try contradict me with a reason if you can)...
im not even sure what the part in red means...

what do you mean when you say "when he beat up pain, he seem in the 17s-20s"? when who beat up pain?

Jiraiya started training nagato, konan, etc right as the second shinobi war was ending.

It was years later that the third shinobi war happened with Minato as the hokage.

It has been over 16 years since Minato died.

Pain had just recently killed Hanzo before Jiraiya snuck into the Rain villiage and faced Pain. Probably just a year or 2.

Remember that Kakashi was a kid during the third war, so at least 18 years have passed since the third shinobi war....minato was still alive and was hokage at the time so we know its over 16 years.

So from the second shinobi war to present has been at LEAST 25 years IMO. Probably more.

OMG! It just hit me....ITACHI is going to be revived by edo tensei! Sorry if this seemed obvious to anyone else--I honestly had never thought of it before. I can honestly say that I can understand(and expect) some of the even legendary ninjas of the past to be surpassed by some of the younger generation(most of them were defeated and killed--not dead from natural causes), Itachi is one who should NOT be surpassed by many(if any).

That will be a sick battle and I feel sorry for whoever ends up fighting him.

Maybe seeing his brother being controlled by Kabuto will bring *some* sense back to him and make him realize the kind of people he is allying himself with.

The other option is he's purposely acting this way to lure Madara into a comfort zone to gain power/experience just like he did with Orochimaru. Just a possibility.
Itachi was already resurrected. We've seen him a few times since then.

I have been thinking about this for a while and my thought is how many shinobi would be strong without ninjutsu. I mean Mifune is able to keep Hanzo from using jutsu, by stopping them in the middle of their hand signs, so it completely changes the fight at that point. We haven't seen too many shinobi who'd be incredibly powerful if they couldn't make hand signs. The obvious strong ones would be Tsunade, Sakura, Sasuke, Kakashi, Madara, and any primary taijutsu fighter (Lee, Guy, and I'll even include Raikage...I know he uses his nin-taijutsu which is stronger but he doesn't need hand signs). Even with Tsunade, Sakura, Sasuke, Kakashi, and Madara they each only have one main attack that doesn't involve hand signs. Mifune's quick draw ability would make him a fierce opponent for most shinobi.

10 years later? more like 20 or more years later...

Nagato saw the sanin fighting Hanzo when he was a kid...and he killed Hanzo when he was a full adult.

When Jiraya fought Hanzo, he was young, probably low to mid twenties.

Konan, nagato and Yahiko were tiny kids

right now naruto is about 16

Kakashi is somewhere between 28-35

his Teacher, Minato would have been older than him. If he was alive today I would think Minato would be in his 40's That would make him about 25 when Naruto was born.

Jiraiya was Minato teacher, so he was somewhere in his 50's AT LEAST when he died.

Using logic, from the time Hanzo fought the sanin, until the time Pain killed him was probably 20-25 years later. Definately not in his prime anymore...
also note when nagato talked about this fight to naruto after their fight he said the fight was epic.

I'm a bit tired that threads spread out all this week since Mifune beat Hanzo easily. Yeah, even I was disappointed that a seemingly great ninja was presented like an idiot but then I thought of it if indeed Kishi raped him or was it us who misjudged his force...

Well, I came to the conclusion that we overhyped him uselessly. People should accept that the Sannins were indeed too weak at that time. Those who don't, check out my explanation below.

The fact is that the Sannin were indeed too young...
In fact, they haven't lost to Hanzo back then...They seemed to have a good battle and as Oro was seemingly the only one to be able to continue the battle, J-Man was wanting to continue the battle. This means that his Sage Mode was really incomplete at that time and he wanted to use it in extreme conditions and he finally didn't do anything since Tsunade (who surely gave it her all) prevented him.

If Hanzo indeed beat up all Sannins in almost full-power as you most say, then there will have been summonings beaten all around and J-Man will atleast have the 2 frogs on his shoulder...The fact is that fight was pretty too easy for Hanzo at their power levels even if combined but still, he could have lost if he didn't fled away...

Here's what I think the Sannins have learnt over the years and improved...

Jiraiya

- Better Sage Mode (still not perfected one though)
- More summonings
- Rasengan (at Hanzo time, J-Man did not meet Minato yet)
- More jutsus and eventually experience

This makes Jiraiya around 4 time more powerful than at Hanzo time....

Tsunade

- Regeneration Jutsu
- 2 times more powerful strength
- Much better med. techs and eventually experience...

This makes Tsunade around 3 time more powerful than at Hanzo time...

Orochimaru

- Edo-Tensei
- More summonings
- Body Transfer Jutsu
- More snakes jutsus
- Creepy techs and other jutsus
- More experience

This makes Orochimaru 4 times more powerful than at Hanzo time...

If we calculate it mathematically (even if it's not completely reliable...),

Total Actual Sannnin Power = 3

Total Old Sannin Power = 1/4 J-Man + 1/3 Tsunade + 1/4 Oro
= 0.833333333333

Hanzo Power = 0.8333333333333

So Yeah, basically with even 1 Sannin only could beat Hanzo now....since 1 is greater than 0.833333333

It's us who overhyped Hanzo at that time when he was shown to be total bad-azs and winning against seemingly the Sannins, not Kishi's fault...
We cannot blame it on Kishi that he just wanted to make a fool of the "great" Hanzo...We thought too great of Hanzo uselessly
Well, if we think of it more naturally, Pein disposed of Hanzo so easily since he was too weak while J-Man alone put on a valiant fight.
Either what you said or Mifune just knows how to swing his sword very(very) well.

This can also be the other way round. You might be underestimating Mifune.
Mifune is the leader of the samurai. He should and must be strong.
Hanzo has already beaten him in the past showing his strength.

Really though I think less people care about Mifune. He should have been killed by Hanzo. Hanzo shouldn't have been lazy and just make sure the people he fought are dead and re stab them or somethin. Gosh

Its like KinGin who doesn't really go along with the battle, but Mifune actually had a part as the peace maker. What is the peace maker doing in the battle!

We might as well bring in Rin, Homura Mitokado ,Koharu Utatane, and a few others!

Mifune was beaten by Hanzo but Mifune had time to get stronger and more skilled. Hanzo had no chance of wining (tough his defeat was really weird not casting a single justsu just too much i think)

I don't think Hanzo was over hyped at all. His record speaks for itself. Before the Mifune encounter he took out Kankurou's squad in one swoop. Not an easy task considering Kankurou's squad took out Diedra. All this defeat shows us is that taijutsu shouldn't be underestimated when summing up a character's battle prowess. Just look at how successful Guy sensei and Rock Lee are. Kishi mentioned early in the manga that unlocking the gates would grant the user emense power that would even surpass the kages. A technique that relies solely on taijutsu attacks. I see the swordsmanship represented by the samurai as something similar. It doesn't rely on fancy magical ninjutsu attacks but finely honed skills and techniques. Using that alone he was able to counter any attempt of Hanzo trying to use ninjutsu.

well u cannot say how many times more powerfull teh sannins are than hanzo
for the simple fact that wedidnt get to see wat hanzo has..

hanzo is a ninja whose primaty weapon is ninjutsu..
hanzo vs sannin was hanzo with his ninjutsu vs sannins..
hanzo vs mifune is hanzo without any ninjutsu vs mifune...

its like a boxer stealing all the swordsmans sword and forcing him to box with him...
so u cant really tell how strong he really is wwhen he has his swords

people stop this mindless discussion and read wat i have said before already

Itachi has already been shown as resurrected in the manga??? I don't remember seeing him since his death. I stopped watching the anime a long time ago(waaaaay too much filler).
