This is one thing I'll agree on, lol.Fair enougth
Edit: Still We can all agree on the fact that Pain was a hot headed who underestimated his adversary (BIG mistake) and paid the price for it.

Itachi would win, 1 reason was tobi clearly stated that the only one out of all the Akasuki that pose hardm to tobi and his planswas Itachi infact all that aside itachi would not have to use gen jutsu i mean close combat like pein does wont work and dont forget tobi kept pein in check with 3 star Sharingon i mean come on
Pain vs Itachi would be pretty good. I don't think Itachi would win because of Pain's powers. God Realm and Hungry Ghost realm together block all taijutsu(he pushed Hinata who was using gentle fist with Shinrai Tensei) and absorb all ninjutsu(hungry ghost adsorbed 3 ninjas attacks at once) Just those two would make it so Itachi could only use genjutsu. The fact that they are fake bodies would mean that the genjutsu that Jiraiya used had no effect on Nagato or else the other Pains animal realm summoned before hand wouldn't be able to move. It would seem that Pain would beat Itachi even with his MS. How could Itachi win when all his justu and taijutsu can be countered with just two Pain? One fundamental thing everyone here fails to remember is what Chiyo said about fighting a sharingan user. If there are more than one fight him head on because one can get the other out of the genjutsu but if its one on one run away. Notice that when ever Itachi uses genjutsu he has to stay still. Fighting six Pains would be far to much for him since he is left open after he catches one in his genjustu. Susanoo would be absorbed by Hungry Ghost, and so would Amaterasu. The only chance would be Tsukuyomi but with six Pains losing one would be nothing when Hell Realm can bring back the dead. Lets not forget what would happen if Itachi gets hit by Animal Realm using one of those black rods(he is the taijutsu). He would be emobilized by Pain like Jiraiya and Naruto before him were. You can argue that he could use Izanagi to counter but remember it can only be used when Senju blood and Uchiha mix(like Danzo and Madara have/had). We know that the Rinnegan allowed Rikudo the power to use Izanagi and we also don't know what other power's the Pains have. God realm was about to use another technique before he was interrupted by Hinata. From the looks of it, it was a transportation jutsu(see episode for example, I think he said we are leaving just before she stops him). This may seem one sided but I only support Pain winning and its up to an Itachi support to disprove what I have to say(basic argument skills)

I said this about 2-3 times already. Itachi's tsukyiomi affects the vision + all pain's visions are linked = nagato would be trapped in a genjutsu, along with all of his bodies. That alone should guarantee itachi the win

omg guy is still using the same vison crap.....
1) tsukyiomi is a vison based genjutsu ...it doesnt affect your eye
2) all pains vision is linked to nagato so nagato could see wat all the pain saw,
apart from that he could also communicate through them means he could talk though them and he could hear what they heard.
3) The toad sound bases genjutsu was one of the strongest sound based and
nagato could hear wat all the pain heard then y didnt he get caughtin the genjutsu
So vision based genjutsu's also affetc only the body its cast on.. not all bodies or nagato.
Hope u finally read understand, and see the light here.

Just because Itachi work's under pain doesnt make him weaker. That's like us saying Naruto is weaker that Kakashi because he's his sensei. Remember Itachi already know's tobi is madara and is really in charge. It could just as easily be Itachi only working under pain because he's being ordered to by madara.

i agree with you, although pain is my all time favorite villain, i still believe itachi would win. everybody here needs to stop hating on that fact and start putting the reality into these discussions... itachi plans out everything down to the persons last breath. we all saw and heard perfect examples of this. im not going to reference manga chapters or pics of them, if you dont beleive the following look it up.
madara praised itachi's way of planing as perfect, he stated that everything and every step of te way he had planned it all out for sasuke. even in their final battle he plotted the whole thing down to him ridding sasuke of orochimaru and dieing at his feet and also giving him his ocular powers.
even that night he had planned it so sasuke would be overcome with sadness and hate towards itachi, giving sasuke the push he needed to keep getting stronger to beat itachi. even again he had shown up and had to inflict more pain to sasuke to show him he still needs to progresss further.
back to the pain vs itachi
pain had many weaknesses. each one could only do one thing and they could be taken down easily if seperated... if itachi could hit any of the pains with the amaterasu it would be over really fast, especially if he takes out the one that uses the giant mouth thing. then after that the rest are childs play... the summoner would be destroyed by itachis susano, plus also the one that uses the mind reading jutsu. the one that absorbs chakra and the one that has the rockets would be destroyed after he uses the tsukyomi on them, the last pain(yahiko) would be defeated by itachi easily due to the fact that he suffers an interval between each attack which can vary to high amount of delay times, especially if he try to almighty push itachi while in susano form... all we would see is pain using the tech and itachi blocking it with the susanos shield the moving in for the kill... either by amaterasu, susano, tsukyomi, or some other tech that he may be saving...
i know pain has his planetary devastation, and his universal pull and i chose not to mention them because they are pointless against itachi, especially if he can turn into crows to avoid the pull from working, and the susano would just bash the giant rock or ground or whatever that pain throws at him outta the way. Itachi was sick when he fought sasuke so, id imagine him being a hell of alot stronger than before plus he gave naruto some of his powers just before he fought sasuke... that if need be those powers would be enough to defeat sasuke, so he gave up alot of chakra to naruto.... so when it would come down to it itachi would have a 90 percent chance of winning.

if itachi had EMS that wouldn't be a problem, but hes limited to 3 shots with his MS shared between tsukiyomi and amaterasu (not sure how susanoo affects the limit on his body and eyes since he only used it for a minute while on the verge of death and blind already) but assuming he can use his MS just as often as sasuke did on danzo (maybe less) he can't amaterasu every single pain, his best bet would catch the important pain bodies with the sealing sword asap.
lol Planetary Devastation's (giant rock maker) idea is to suck you into the mass it makes and crush you on the inside since its a point of gravity and pulls everything around it towards the center. pain would try and crush itachi and susanoo inside a moon rather then huck the moon at him. staying inside susanoo would give him the best chance of winning since if pain did use PD the only way he'd survive or get out was with susanoo protecting him.
staying inside susanoo majoraty of the fight is the only way he'd have over 50% chance of winning the rest of the fight he would have to distract atleast 5 pain bodies and kill one, doing it sucessfuly several times so its better to his odds when he pulls out susanoo, like 3 on one at the least.

1) I don't understand why people divide the fight in to one on one battles....All the six bodies will attack at once....
2) Itachi having hype and being a genius has nothing to do with this fight....He wont be able to figure out the abilities in a nano second.
3) I am sick of the "Genjutsu = GG because their vision is linked" argument.
Fact is Each Pain has its own chakra network. I will concede if someone gives me manga proof of Itachi putting multiple opponents in genjutsu at once.
