I could use my chakra to control the wind....speed it up to create brute force, which could be used for defensive purposes as well as offensive.

Wind can fuel a fire which its weak to, but can redirect lightning which its strong against.

Actually, as said in the manga, wind tends to have a cutting edge, able to cut and slice through things when necessary.
-hands you a small leaf- Before we begin on the first D-Rank jutsu, I want you to learn how to use Wind Chakra properly. Imagine it in a cutting style, knives slicing against one another, and then cut the leaf in half with only your chakra.
Remember to place the leaf within the folds of your hand.

*I Place the leaf within the fold of my hand and I begin applying my chakra into the leaf...as time passes by I noticed i havent even began to cut it.....then I remember to imagine it like 2 kunai are cutting each other and I keep applying more chakra into the leaf....as I look towards the leaf its only cut a little. I breath in and out and try once more. Applying more & more chakra into the leaf with the image of the kunai also and the leaf falls out of my hand cut in half*

I want you to begin gathering the sand upon the ground around you with your chakra. Slowly clump this together into a mass of sand and then carefully control it to hit the tree behind you.

The user will form the handseals and as the Fuusajin rises, it will collect the dust or sand before it gets directed towards the opponent.

I want you now to begin sending your chakra to the air around you and begin spinning it as a shield over your body. Make sure to keep steady control of the acceleration. In a few moments, when I see that you have maintained of this jutsu, I will then toss kunais at you to see if it is strong enough. Also, keep in mind that it needs to be accelerating at a speed fast enough to also push back basic Taijutsu.

Advantages -

I can use my enviornment to knock things into my opponets since it has force to it.. It can also distract my opponent by throwing sand in their eyes..

Disadvantages -

It takes time to gather the sand and it requires handseals
By the time youve gathered the sand your opponent can already have a counter attack ready.

*I start channeling my chakra into the wind around me.....then i begin to gather the sand from below, then i begin channeling the wind-chakra to pick up the sand with circling around me......as the sand and wind are trying to stabilize i keep inserting more chakra to add rotation to the gust of wind and keep them in place*

-shows you handseals- The handseals will help you in starting the jutsu, but it's the concentration that counts. Now, I want you to start focusing your Fuuton towards the top of your body. Build pressure inside you until you believe it is strong enough. Then expel the force of it towards my clone over here -creates clone-. As you release it, also add a kunai to it.

*Memorizes then performs the handseals*

I begin to focus my wind chakra into the top of my body.....as it is there i begin adding more chakra to build up pressure...I take out a kunai and release it in conjunction with the kunai towards your clone causing it to poof*

Nicely done. Remember that this can be used with a teammate when they use multiple ninja weapons at once to propel their moves.
