@Poison chan thank you very much for your kind words. Hosting takes a lot of effort for sure but don't get discouraged. Once you get the hang of it,it all goes more fluid. If at any point you want to co-join me as an observer or assist me in any game I'm hosting, let me know.
@Dr.Strange, I've been meaning to say this for a while and I think this opportunity is perfect for it. You've worked very hard to get players in the community and that should get recognition. You've been a great collaborator in making it this big. That's worthy of a medal by itself. Keep up your good work!
Congratulations teammates. Michelle and Beta, thank you for always keeping the positive spirit up, even when we thought it would be impossible for us to win. That really helped in getting us to the end.
@Finalbeta, you did great the last two phases. Sadly, I was too busy at that point and couldn't pay my undivided attention to the game but, even with the Odds tremendously against us, we still pulled through.
To my homies,
@Dragomir,
@AL_sama,
@Odd,
@Avito,
@Ryu Kishi, it was fun playing with you guys after so long.
@Ryu Kishi you added 'or town' in the post you asked for votes! I didn't know what you were cooking so I decided to not risk it. If you had claimed, I woulda voted with you!!
@Ansatsuken, you are for sure a pleasure to have in games and I say it both from a player's perspective and a host's perspective. You bring life to the games. Never change!.
I haven't analyzed the setup yet, will do so later, but as a player, my perception was that the game was balanced in town's favor. Most of our abilities, as mafia, were X shots which, as a result, made Michelle and I mafia goons as soon as we exhausted their uses. In comparison to town, who had a variety of roles that they could use every cycle, we were put in a great disadvantage. Also, Town had too much investigative and killing power.
A couple of general tips for the hosts would be:
- Always post all the roles of the mafia faction in the opening post of the mafia chat, even if you want to handle their action submissions through individual PMs. It's hard to plan the actions or keep track of the roles when they're scattered. Remember that mafia moves as a unit.
- Make sure to always update the opening post of the game with the links of the writeups. It's difficult to revisit confirmed information when one has to spend a lot of time looking for it.
- Make sure your role descriptions contain all the information needed for the players to understand it completely. It must say in what point of the cycle the ability can be used (day, night, both) and contain all the effects the ability is going to have once used, that are not tied by a hidden mechanic. That will alleviate a lot of your work as a host, considering you will have to answer less questions.
Finally,
@Odd, I've been wondering what gave me away with you. Admittedly I was extra bold as scum, because we had an ability that would give us unlimited revives if we killed Naruto and we found Naruto Day 1 so I felt it wouldn't hurt to be more open about my pushes. The revive power understandably got nerfed mid game but I was in too deep at that point, lol. What pointed you in my direction?
