Barisal
Barisal is part of Thunderbird Valley, the area of the Lightning Mountains between the Wadden Flats and the mountains proper. Here the land is green and fertile; more suited for habitation than most other areas of the region. The settlements of Barisal are concentrated around the banks of its only major river, which runs straight through the area’s middle. Here a number of hamlets have been built, connected by paved roads and across the water by wooden bridges. The inhabitants make eager use of watermills to drive processes such as milling, rolling, hammering and sawing, processing raw materials like minerals and lumber from the area’s periphery into manufactured goods.
Barisal was one of the only regions in the Lightning Mountains to be spared from the Cataclysm and also benefit from it, as their industrious infrastructure allowed them to process the raw materials harvested from the shards of the moon, discovering new minerals and compounds in the process. These compounds and their exact applications have yet to be fully tested.
