I’m not sure, the novels are about them training and stuff no? Maybe sasuke pushes her to it, or they run into a fight

It doesn't specify what happened to trigger the upgrade. It only says that when she activates it, it's a 3T. She didn't obtain it in the novel, she already had it before, so it was something that happened after the Momoshiki events and before the novel.
