We know for a fact Sarada is never getting developed in the manga, especially now with Kawaki and Kara properly introduced. Novels and the anime are the only way for her to get some development.
If they never did the completely pointless movie rehash (which they went on to repeat once again in the anime), Sarada would have had time to get proper development and unlock at least her second tomoe before Kodachi decided to dive into the main story with Kara. It's like they're treating important developments as afterthoughts, fusing random continuities together and hoping it makes sense without actually planning anything out.
Define handout and correlate that with hereditary abilities.
OT: kind of excited for what she's got to offer as per her fully matured Sharingan, and whether or not she can pull early Sasuke Sharingan genjutsu where a single glance defeats the fodder without equally potent eyes. I'm quite certain though that we'll be seeing Itachi-esque techniques once it gets to it. Salad has been subconsicously mimicking Itachi, without realizing it, could be a phenomenally strong connection, that Kishimoto has left to interpretation since he blessed her with Itachi's greatest arsenals. Naruto Shinden confirmed that Sarada had the Fire Ball jutsu and that she learned it from Sasuke. Two weeks later, she uses it in the anime and confirms she learned it from Sasuke.

How Sarada got 3T is definitely not gonna happen in the manga since the focus is on Kara and Kawaki right now so the novels and the anime will back that up.

Me personally, I don't see a problem with accepting both Naruto and Sasuke shindens as canon. Before Naruto shinden, no one even knew that Sarada learned Fireball from Sasuke, which means, these novels are adding up to the characters development and to the main story.

As a Sarada fan, I rather see her getting development in the novels and in the anime than having no development at all, and just being used as a mere object in the scene while Boruto gets all the panels. At least in the novels and in the anime she's safe from getting ruined and sexualised, like Ukyo and Ikemoto have been doing in the manga.
