I don't recall Obama being "soft" as he went into 7 illegal wars, had a drone strike program with 90% civilian death rate, and sanctioned the hell outta Russia. Which countries "frequently" said he was "soft?"Definitely never said more nations would respect us. I just said he's not wrong for his response.
Also, politically do you think there would be more positives if Trump had just taken the insults? That was one of Obama's knocks; that he was too soft and other countries frequently said so.
I do recall Obama having way more respect than Trump on an international level.
I think being able to remain pragmatic and not jeopardize international peace talks over trivial insults at a personal level shows maturity and a good quality of a leader. And you keep bringing up that North Korea bad mouthed the U.S. like this was a one-sided dilemma. The U.S. was literally, on nationwide tv, arguing that we should preemptively strike them which is what caused North Korea to speak out as it did.
