Definitely never said more nations would respect us. I just said he's not wrong for his response.

Also, politically do you think there would be more positives if Trump had just taken the insults? That was one of Obama's knocks; that he was too soft and other countries frequently said so.

I don't recall Obama being "soft" as he went into 7 illegal wars, had a drone strike program with 90% civilian death rate, and sanctioned the hell outta Russia. Which countries "frequently" said he was "soft?"

I do recall Obama having way more respect than Trump on an international level.

I think being able to remain pragmatic and not jeopardize international peace talks over trivial insults at a personal level shows maturity and a good quality of a leader. And you keep bringing up that North Korea bad mouthed the U.S. like this was a one-sided dilemma. The U.S. was literally, on nationwide tv, arguing that we should preemptively strike them which is what caused North Korea to speak out as it did.

Yep North Korea are now willing to talk again. Winning.

They were always willing to talk. They even said so, right after Trump cancelled the meeting.....

Now be a good cuck and give me a like.

Kim Jong Un shut down his nuclear weapons site because it failed and collapsed after the missile test....But I'm glad you're attaching undeserved credit to Trump. Really shows how credible your "rational conclusion" is.

"Position of strength" is what the U.S. has been since it became a superpower.

And if Obama regime changing left and right, and going into 7 illegal wars isn't a "position of power," then I don't know what is.

I'd rather get my facts straight than make an uneducated opinion on something.
you're speaking from a place of hypocrisy because you started this thread with the sole motive of attaching blame to Trump by highlighting the part you believe supports your already existing opinions. The best part about this is that you insinuate Trump should use military force, knowing full well you'll criticize him for that.
There's no indicator that this was a smart move. After cancelling the peace talks, Trump also declared that South Korea and Japan would pay for U.S. financial war costs against North Korea if they take action.
you're acting it like it means Trump has no plans whatsoever to continue peace talks. If you did a better job looking between the lines instead of taking everything he said literally, you'd know he's in the process of trying to make Kim believe he has little to no negotiating power.

The U.S. is already facing international backlash from this decision.
Trump didn't promise anybody the international community was going to love all his international policies. Considering all the deals he said was going to pull out of/renegotiate, you should have expected the backlash once he got elected.

What are you even talking about? Do you understand what "hypocrisy" even means?

I'm anti-war and always have been. Trump has been instigating war ever since he's been in office and is playing with a match that can light off a powder keg.

i understand full well what hypocrisy means, and you displayed it by highlighting the part you want to see as proof of your opinion while calling out somebody else for only highlighting the part that suited that their argument. And on top of that, you attempted to invalidate Aristotelian's point as "uneducated". That is textbook hypocrisy with a cherry on top.

the fact that you actually believes this tells me all i need to know about how willfully ignorant you want to be about this, so do us both a favor and don't reply.

So instigating war is more important than having potential peace?

The U.S. is known for regime change. We police the world and we dicked over dictators like Gaddafi after making "peace deals." And when we starting negotiating with North Korea, John Bolton began touting his warhawkish views and brought up how we should do to North Korea what we did with Libya, which is make a deal to disarm them, then fund a coup.

What is being "soft" even mean? We're currently bombing 8 different countries and ramped up drone strikes to the stratosphere. Touting our "big guns" isn't going to make anyone respect the U.S. The U.S. is a joke to the rest of the world.

PS: I never had faith in this peace deal anyway as N.Korea is known to pull out of agreements for media attention and recognition. But Trump is so easy to manipulate, it's embarrassing.

It's a good move by Trump canceling but I do agree the way he worded his summit letter with the 'my nukes are bigger' was repugnant and childish to say the least and can lead to more slippery treading imo

That's not what hypocrisy is, genius.

Right, because there aren't countless tweets about Trump threatening to bomb North Korea.

Because Trump hasn't tripled our drone strikes and escalated the amount of civilian casualties.

Because Trump isn't currently aiding Saudi Arabia in the genocide of Yemen.

This is all sarcasm btw, because I feel like it is necessary to spell it out for you.

By what parameters are you judging this as a "good move?" Honest question.

Trump pulled out because N. Korea said some mean words, which ironically started because Mike Pence was suggesting we'd do to North Korea the "Libyan Model" in the first place.

Doesn't that show a level of immaturity on Trump's part? Now North Korea is able to take the moral high ground and shame the U.S. for pulling out of a potentially historical peace negotiation, and other countries are siding with North Korea on this.

We're supposed to be world leaders and if a few mean words is a line crossed, then why should any country deal with the U.S. while at the same time we bomb and occupy the hell outta the world? Trump has insulted almost every nation and leader, yet other countries remain level-headed.

And if crazy dictator Kim Jong Un is able to maintain more composure than Trump and have people side with North Korea of all places, you know we fucked up.

:snick: Thanks for the salt.
But yep I agree. You just earned a like from me again for being a good “cuck” and accepting the fact that the two are willing to talk again. Even though Trump cancelled the meeting and people were butthurt over what was stated in the letter, North Korea is still willing to talk to Trump again.

Trump is winning. Maga. Maga. Salt. Salt. Please tell me how salty you are again,Lightbringer.

It's obvious the summit isn't being "canceled", but postpone; possibly by several months or so. In doing so, Trump keeps North Korea on their toes while retaining the superiority in their dealings. It's a win-win.

But don't take my word for it, come to your own conclusions. I'd rather think rationally than have the media tell me what conclusions to come to.

All glory be to nostradamus

That’s cute.
I’ll let you assume that I’m the one being manipulated and not the other way around.

No problem ;)

North and South Korea just held a surprise meeting without Trump knowing. I didn't see you predict that Nostradamus.

What people fail to realize is that Asian politics and diplomacy aren't played the same way they are in western European countries; they're based on strength and respect, not politeness and pleasantry.

Your entire argument revolved around the fact that what Trump did was "a position of power" and that Asians respect moves likes this, yet they just snubbed the U.S. by having a secret meeting after Trump cancelled.

And South Korea, China, and Japan scrutinized Trump for pulling out of the meeting. Where exactly was this fawning respect for Trumps "power move?"

Trump keeps North Korea on their toes while retaining the superiority in their dealings.

Literally nothing has been gained from the U.S. aside for embarrassing itself and making North Korea look like the adult.

North Korea didn't even apologize for what they said and literally stated that they'd be open to meet anytime right after Trump cancelled.

I must be living in some alternative universe if that is considered "retaining the superiority."

it would be counter-intuitive for him to have gone forth with the summit in-spite of the disrespect directed at his cabinet;

-No apology issued.

-North Korea said they're willing to talk anytime right after Trump cancelled.

-Held secret meeting with South Korea without Trump knowing.

-A day later, Aristotelian is touting that the meeting is still on (which is still unconfirmed, btw) and is no longer counter-intuitive for some odd reason.

Why? Particularly because Trump is a terrible diplomat for the subject of denuclearization, he receding from the summit was a great move because we know it wouldn't have ended well with the move Pence pulled. I think best scenario is to allow Moon to take lead as clearly is better diplomat than Trump...

Are you upset that my analysis hasn't come to full fruition within a matter of a day? The surprise meeting (not secret) doesn't conflict with anything I said, and I don't know where you're getting this talk of an apology from. I'd rather not respond to compulsive nitpicking with nitpicking. Don't quote me unless you have something substantial to add or something substantial occurs. You're clogging up my notifications.
