The entirety of the Naruto and Boruto staff undoubtedly ruined the crown jewel of the series that separated God tier beings from High Jounin, S-class and Kages. It started with Nagato who displayed feats that no other Rinnegan bearer to this day were able to replicate, save for chibaku Tensei and the Preta Paths absorption. He is the downgraded pinnacle of the possibilities of the Rinnegan- and I say downgraded because those weren’t truly his eyes and he didn’t have a body that manifested the eyes. Then they introduced Obito and Edo jinchuriki’s that possessed the Rinnegan which was entirely lackluster but it made sense because Obito’s chakra reserves couldn’t handle THAT many things and utilize 6 Paths techniques with the Jinchurikis. Then we had Edo Nagato, whipping ass and taking names (even though he wasn’t in control of himself) and he got plot capped but at least he displayed ALL of the 6 Paths of the Rinnegan again.
Then enters Edo Madara whom only used the Preta Path (which makes sense for plot) that massacred pretty much everyone. Then Juubito whom didn’t use any of the Rinnegan’s abilities, except for maybe the chakra absorption he used on SO6P Madara. Then we have revived Madara and SO6P Madara that foolishly only used Limbo and Chibaku Tensei. Sasuke only used Chibaku Tensei, Chakra absorption and Ameno. More disappointments right?
The last two straws that broke the camel’s back are Adult Sasuke and Momoshiki. Adult Sasuke has been reduced to absolute shit, not to a fault of his own of course (he’s a character) but simply because of the writers. Absolutely no use of the Rinnegan’s 6 Paths at all, except for in Boruto Movie where he heals his burns by absorbing Naruto’s chakra cloak...which obviously didn’t happen in the manga. Momoshiki is the pinnacle of disappointment though, he’s an alien Otsutsuki that possessed the Rinnegan. What a waste of possibilities to only be able to absorb, copy ninjutsu, spit it out and be able to multiply it by x amount of power. OH I almost forgot that he could turn people into chakra fruit and make Red Earth pills.
-Now granted, maybe Momoshiki’s Rinnegan isn’t as OP as the KKG variant obtained through Earth’s chakra fruit. But the writers and directors could literally do whatever they want so unless they specify that, it’s not a good excuse.
In my opinion though, Momoshiki is far more disappointing than Sasuke though and if anything, they should’ve waited to introduce his character later on so they could stack 6 Paths abilities onto him.
