Well, the Vatican putting out a statement denying that the pope said this sounds like damage control to me, much like how Trump's administration have to deny and reinterpret what he says.
I highly doubt that an interviewer would risk major legal ramifications and his career for a fake quote from the Pope. There's nothing to gain from this.
And another thing,
Who does he think he is, a prophet? What would he know?
He says "smile", but I'm somewhat disappointed. Where are all the pedo popes gonna go, when they die? It's like he made that statement to make all the "sinners" feel better about death. They need to be punished, I feel sorry for none of them...then on top of that, people with common sense aren't convinced of a heaven or hell, so he's still not doing himself any justice.
And then telling them their souls are gonna disappear just because they were predisposed sounds more like an insult and a set up, more than anything. The ones in need of a "hell" are the one's who choose to do wrong on a "whim".Those are the most evil kind of people on this planet.
I think being a "pope" is just a bypass for undercover pedophiles, like drug trafficking.

"Souls are not punished. Those who repent obtain God's forgiveness and go among the ranks of those who contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot be forgiven disappear. There is no hell — there is the disappearance of sinful souls." -Pope Francis
Even the Pope is skeptical of the bible.
Except this was reported by a 93 years old Italian journalist who is famous for not taking any notes.
And an atheist to boot.
“What happened with the latest interview given to Eugenio Scalfari during Holy Week and made public on Holy Thursday was beyond tolerable,” Cardinal Burke said in an interview with La Nuova Bussola Quotidiana.
“That a famous atheist claims to announce a revolution in the teaching of the Catholic Church, believing to speak in the name of the Pope, denying the immortality of the human soul and the existence of hell, has been a source of profound scandal not only for many Catholics but also for many lay people who respect the Catholic Church and its teachings, even if they do not share them.”
That's it, plus the Pope spoke about the existence of hell in other (public) speeches he delivered. Some people really suppress their critical thinking when it's about having a desperate need to shame the Catholic Church
The Saints, Doctors and Mystics of the Church throughout the ages have all affirmed the existence of Hell.
The Cathecism of the Catholic Church clearly and definitively states that Hell does exists
CCC 1035 "The teaching of the Church affirms the existence of hell and its eternity. Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, "eternal fire The chief punishment of hell is eternal separation from God, in whom alone man can possess the life and happiness for which he was created and for which he longs."
That's why it's called heresy. And so what if the Pope said something different years ago? You mean to say he can't have his own revelation about the bible? Do beliefs not change?

Lmao, if you don't believe hell exists, then where the hell are, sinful humans supposed to go to?
You think all of our habits, thoughts, habitat, tendencies, all came into existence, just like that?
You're taking logic too far; and ignoring tradition and cultural ancestral hearsay.
The ancients are not dumb to draw three/four pictures of said hell in pyramids and tombs.
To oblivion. The universe has no moral principles as far as evidence shows. It simply is and we being the only known conscience beings to inhabit the only known planet with life are the one's who created these concepts of morality and the afterlife.
How can it build 'itself' from thousands of years? That's like saying after said years, a rock can form into a Whole another Earth, which literally doesn't make sense. And all those religious books aren't stupid to right all that they wrote, which begs the point, something such as 'hell' might exist which can be proven by the scientific study conducted by ancients. If you're aware, certain ancient technological accessories are nearly impossible to recreate with Modern Technology. Which begs the point they clearly had more scientific backup than us so thier 'word' is obviously more credible than ours. No, it took trillions of years to develop. It didn't just "pop" into existence. Everything in the universe is made of the same material, it's just the difference in how many atoms and in what structure they're in which creates differences between things.
Wtf does that even mean? Taking logic too far? That's not a thing. There's being logical and then there's being ignorant and dumb.
So if you're saying that Egyptians figured out the afterlife then you're admitting that the Egyptian mythology is the true religion, with Ra being the God that pulls the Sun to make it rise every morning. If that's not what you're saying, then your point about the pyramids is redundant.
