"Souls are not punished. Those who repent obtain God's forgiveness and go among the ranks of those who contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot be forgiven disappear. There is no hell β€” there is the disappearance of sinful souls." -Pope Francis

Even the Pope is skeptical of the bible.

"disappearance" of a sinful soul, sounds more rational than burning someone for eternity. But oh well, I guess my mom and dad don't have a place to go after death, it seems. Would've enjoyed to see them burn, while laughing at them.

I'd say, just about 99% of the earth's population will disappear, by his logic. Including him.

Religion is insane.

And another thing,

Who does he think he is, a prophet? What would he know?

He says "smile", but I'm somewhat disappointed. Where are all the pedo popes gonna go, when they die? It's like he made that statement to make all the "sinners" feel better about death. They need to be punished, I feel sorry for none of them...then on top of that, people with common sense aren't convinced of a heaven or hell, so he's still not doing himself any justice.

And then telling them their souls are gonna disappear just because they were predisposed sounds more like an insult and a set up, more than anything. The ones in need of a "hell" are the one's who choose to do wrong on a "whim".Those are the most evil kind of people on this planet.

I think being a "pope" is just a bypass for undercover pedophiles, like drug trafficking.

The Vatican denied this in their press. β€œno quotation of the article should be considered as a faithful transcription of the words of the Holy Father.”

Well, the Vatican putting out a statement denying that the pope said this sounds like damage control to me, much like how Trump's administration have to deny and reinterpret what he says.

I highly doubt that an interviewer would risk major legal ramifications and his career for a fake quote from the Pope. There's nothing to gain from this.

Honestly mate, hell and heaven is absolute nosense from a logical standpoint. I truly believe that it's an absolutely moronic idea to condemn someone to ETERNAL "hellfire" based on just mere 60-85 years of human life. It's like stealing a piece of candy and receiving the death penalty. Also there's the whole side of environment and genetics. It's a fact that genetics and environment determine who we are to an enormous degree. This means that a lot of our decisions, good or bad aren't even our fault, so why should we be held fully responsible?

pope's are historically the most clueless, idiotic people on earth. they don't even know what they're representing. the whole "pope" thing is a front to give people some false hope that what they believe in will send them to heaven.

Not only that, but the people who believe in Hell also believe in an omnipotent/omniscient God. So this all-powerful and all-knowing being created people knowing full well who will and will not go to Hell to suffer for all eternity? That sounds pretty evil to me and also illogical.

You again with your anti Christian shenanigans... And your hypocrisy.

"Souls are not punished. Those who repent obtain God's forgiveness and go among the ranks of those who contemplate him, but those who do not repent and cannot be forgiven disappear. There is no hell β€” there is the disappearance of sinful souls."-Pope Francis

MARK 3:27

"Verily i say unto you, All sins shall be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall blaspheme:
But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation.
"

Eternal damnation could be interpreted from this not as hell but as the loss of your soul. And the soul could be interpreted as your Subconscious.

yw

Note also that he doesn't necessarily say there is no hell but rather that there is no hell for those who do not repent and cannot be forgiven, but the disappearance of their souls.

Except there are countless passages in the bible which describe Hell as a place of fire and brimstone.

Here's a passage from your boy Mark that you just cited. Nice try hypocrite.

MARK 9:43

"If your hand causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life maimed than with two hands to go into hell, where the fire never goes out. And if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell. And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell, where the worms that eat them do not die, and the fire is not quenched'd. Everyone will be salted with fire."

Also, no Hell, means no Satan or demons.

You're a special kind of stupid aren't you?

Clearly you didn't get anything of what i said since you're here giving me unnecessary descriptions of hell to prove that hell has been described in the bible. Something i already knew about. And "your boy Mark"? tf is that supposed to mean.

So, you mean to tell me the decisions you make in life, you can't STOP yourself from doing, because of genetics?

I think what you're saying is a bit of a stretch. I think genetics and environment leads to an "inclination". Previous generations in my family were christians, doesn't mean I wanna be one. All of em were child abusers, doesn't mean I'm gonna be one. Etc etc.

Stop using genes and environment as an exuse. Such "totalistic" ideals, whole-heartedly blaming genes and environments...rather than taking accountability. We have a conscience.

Your ideals will lead society into OBLIVION, it's twisted.

Oh no, I got it. You're trying to rationalize what the Pope said by reinterpreting a passage to fit the narrative that the Pope was merely citing the bible rather than giving his own opinion.

Except the passage you cited is saying that some sins are forgiven by God, but not all. As long as the sin is not a mortal sin (murder, suicide, etc.) then they can be forgiven without repentance. Otherwise they are eternally damned. That's not what the Pope said. He said there is no Hell and souls are not punished. Being damned means being punished and as we know later in the book, Mark describes what he meant by damnation into context as being a physical torment.

And if that passage meant what you are suggesting, then the same book contradicts itself. If you're suggesting that the Pope hasn't read Mark and glossed over the part where it mentions Hell being a physical place, then you must be a special kind of stupid.

So please, stay irate brate.

Honestly you're so stupid it surprises me. Genetics and environment matter VERY much you bafoon. Compare someone's life who is born with both of his parents having a PHD, and going to a private school, to someone with parents that have very low IQ and live in the ghetto with no money. Tell me what choices the less fortunate kid will have in the future and if he is to be blamed for what life has offered him.

There's no point in arguing with you, you're delusional.

What planet are you from?

And I know I've asked you this question before, cause you definitely aren't here on earth...your mind is somewhere else. Each and every avatar or name you've ever had, signifies how deluded you are.

Don't bother arguing with him. He projects his stupidity on others. He'll only accept his own argument and no one else's in order to stroke his ego.
