If God was almighty, then he'd be able to clarify his message in a way for all to understand without having to create confusing and contradicting metaphors.
You give humans way too little credit. Mankind is just as smart as they were before as they are now. We just have more information of our world, but they still were just as intelligent. Archimedes, for example, created a mathematical formula that would estimate how many grains of sand could fit into a universe. Many complex philosophies, mathematics, and ideas originated from ancient people.
If the entire bible was a metaphor, then it's a useless piece of text since it gives no fundamental insight into the world. There has been no scientific discovery that originated from the texts alone. It's in reverse; the discovery is made and then people try to reinterpret the metaphors to fit within that narrative due to the vague nature of the texts.[/QUOTE
Guess that was over your head. Let me help you out a little. The fortunate minority had more knowledge in my opinion than we do today but the common man on the other is a different story. They didn’t have the access to education so many of us have today and they were’t as well nurished which plays a major role in iq.
My point focussed on the common person who occult information was kept from for multiple reasons. One being their inability to understand advance concepts with no education, another being that knowledge is power and the more information you can keep from people the easier it is to control them. The few outside the circle that could find the meaning behind the allegory or symbolism were typically initiated. Consider it a litmus test of sorts. No point giving pearls to swine.
Hope that helps to enlighten you though I doubt it.
