You can call it simple, but Itachi analyzed CT and formulated a counter faster than Kurama and Hachibi, two intelligent beings that have been around since forever. Itachi also had to analyze where the blind spots were in Nagato's shared vision, that isn't something you just guess and throw shuriken at. Obito stated that Itachi was the only one to figure out his existence before the extermination of the Uchiha clan. Obito also said he would be dead if Itachi knew everything about him. Itachi effectively countered DSM Kabuto and ET, one of the most haxxed jutsu in the manga said to have no weakness. In fact, he was the embodiment of "Every jutsu has a weakness", which only implies that there hasn't been a single instance in battle that he couldn't analyze and figure out a solution. He completely orchestrated his fight against Hebi Sasuke (respectively an intelligent Kage tier) from start to finish, and got rid of Orochimaru's influence on him. Hiruzen said they completely relied on Itachi for everything, and had him spy on the Akatsuki. There's probably more, but you should get the point.
