Hiruzen really is just known for hype, but giving titles around and posing them as feats is just a huge mistake because people mistaken them for relativity.
Hashirama being called god of shinobis, Hiruzen being called a shinobi god, Tobirama being called the fastest shinobi alive, and Minato likewise to Tobirama is all context speaking. Which one is hyped god and which one is hyped the fastest?

So what we need to look at here is the surrounding facts of it all. Kabuto said he was stronger than the five principles of his time.
The third generation of shadow principles consist of some heavy hitters on there side.
1. 3rd Raikage Ay is able to go toe to toe with a wild biju in a physical strength competition, something Hashirama's wood style golem is needed to do.
2. 3rd Tsuchikage Oonoki's jinton is on a high level of powerful in terms of projectile. He's able to disintegrate susano'o(below magic garb), wood style emergency forest bloom, and has light weighted technique that unables him to lift up an entire island. Something that nobody can do with physical strength at all or techniques that are physically strong.
3. 3rd Kazekage who has the most/powerful chakra because he was a jinchuuriki and he had a kekkai genkai known as magnet release. Strongest in kazekage history before Gaara stepped up.

So how is Hiruzen suppose to compete with the physique of Ay, the projectile of Oonoki, and the chakra levels of kazekage all at the same time with the feats he has? Doesn't sound realistic does it?
So hype can only get you a long way, this same thing applies to his prime. What we know is that he's skilled and knows all konoha style jutsus which seem to consist up to a 1,000. So prime Hiruzen is really not that strong. He doesn't even have the kekkai genaki or secret art to compete with some of these people.

Look at Hiruzen response to Hashi's comment

"Its rude to say it...but its true"

Hiruzen acknowledge Hashirama strength and power and to say someone is stronger than Hashirama is rude.

Here Hiruzen want to emphasis that Hashirama is too strong even stronger than him (Hiruzen) also so for someone who admit he is stronger than Hashi is rude or unreasonable.

Why Hiruzen said such words if he believed he was stronger than Hashi in his Prime years.

Except for one thing



Hiruzen isn't in his prime !! He was revived as the 70 year old man that no longer had the power that made him famous.




Here's another fact, no one disputed Hiruzen being as strong as Hashirama even though they lived in an era where they could witness Hashi's power being used.




Of course Hiruzen isn' on Hashirama's level, but the manga made it clear he wa the only non-Senju/Uchiha that had the talent to reach a level CLOSE to that of the transmigrants.



Think about it, it takes a Rinnegan user to be able to replicate Hiruzen's ability to master the 5 basic elements. That should tell you how talented with ninjutsu he was and to what extent his feats were OP.

Kishi retconned this. Shippuden readers should know Hiruzen is strong but significantly below Madara, Tobirama and Hashirama.

The thing with Hiruzen is that he couldn't have lost any powers, jutsu or from his 'prime' adult form. It would've just been a Oro battle Hiruzen but with more stamina and speed...which yeah, is awesome for Part 1 standards.

Strength =/= Originality. Hiruzen ain't much but I hope NB is saying much the same about Minato's moveset.

Hiruzen has Enma unique to him.

and having all of Konoha's home jutsu combined is all way more unique than him.

In his Prime I've never seen him but just going off what he did as a old man an as edo (Who wasn't 100%) I'd say he's under Hashi/Madz by a long shot but he's still like 3rd or 4th down the line as one of the strongest or greatest..

Power wise he could've easily held the title as a god of shinobi of his era bein so versatile..

But the title really goes to the power houses Hashi/Madz who even Hiruzen himself felt weak in comparison to..

But much respect to Hiruzen even though we didn't get to see him prime..
