Hiruzen also known as the "God of Shinobi" was stated to be the strongest Hokage in Konoha's history in the original series, and the most powerful of Kage during his lifetime. However, I think most of you agree these statements can't be entirely true. It's obvious that Hashirama was far more powerful than Hiruzen, making the question of how powerful powerful he was in his prime even more confusing. What do you guys think? If you can, give evidence for your opinions, I'm genuinely interested.

Part 1 is irrelevant

you have no right saying what part of the manga is canon and not, Edo Hiruzen was never revived in his prime so using him as an example is invalid

There's nothing in the manga to disprove how OP Hiruzen was, everyone in that era witnessed Hashi's power and still compared him to a transmigrant.

Hiruzen was in his prime when he was edo, when he did all the elements. Good feats i know. But no where on the level of sm hashirama and madara

He is not the strongest Hokage at all (he can only beat Tsunade and Kakashi) and in his prime 3 Raikage was still alive so he wasn´t strongest kage too.

I agree with Hashi and Madara being stronger, but I don't think he was in his prime when he was resurrected. He looked old.

Agreed, edo is always below prime . But even so. Sm hashirama and madara where on another level without rikudou chakra

I dont believe he was the strongest hokage, i do agree with god of shinobi though, i think what they meant by god of shinobi was that he was the most ideal shinobi, knowing all the ninja skills in his village barring Hidden abilities like the Nara clan and such, the word strongest can also be depicted in many different ways...

for example physical strength, fighting ability, or just being strong in a particular field, so in this case i think being the strongest in referencing his ninja abilities in general and his overall knowledge could be what they mean ^^ because it is clear when it comes to fighting ability that there are other hokages that out do him, but no other hokage could display all 5 elements like Hiruzen could ^^

Look at Hiruzen response to Hashi's comment

"Its rude to say it...but its true"

Hiruzen acknowledge Hashirama strength and power and to say someone is stronger than Hashirama is rude.

Here Hiruzen want to emphasis that Hashirama is too strong even stronger than him (Hiruzen) also so for someone who admit he is stronger than Hashi is rude or unreasonable.

Why Hiruzen said such words if he believed he was stronger than Hashi in his Prime years.

How strong was Hiruzen in his prime?

Shortly, very strong. [/thread]

But seriously, he was called professor, knew tons of ninjutsu, could stand against Orochimaru, reanimated Hashirama and Tobirama despite old age.
His title I think is because he was probably strongest normally known shinobi alive at time.

I agree completely. His reputation most likely had more to do with his incredible mastery of all elements and Knowledge of jutsu, than his Battle strength. Not to say he wasn't powerful.
