If he has the wits to trick dojutsu prodigies then I don't see why he wouldn't be able to use illusions effectively. Plot is the only thing preventing him from being better than majority of Uchiha, his shadow clone trickery with illusions would be overwhelming for any dojutsu user.

Neji's dojutsu was deactivated.

Kaguya was tricked, but not in a way that would have allowed her to see through the ruse. The real one always has the TSB, so when he put it on a clone, she was tricked but in a way she wasn't.

He didn't trick Sasuke, Sasuke's hand was stuck in the clone's body and he was being held in place. The clone that punched Sasuke hadn't dissipated, it wasn't a trick.

Naruto got his ass beat at VOTE1, and at VOTE2 when there were no outside powers being used and the fight was coming to a close, Sasuke beat that ass again and Naruto called for more chakra but it got taken. Naruto when not using Kurama seems to get his ass beat.

What is Naruto chakra control stats compared to Hashirama? If Naruto chakra control stats is near Hashirama or higher then Naruto should be able to do genjutsu, due to Hashirama being able to do genjutsu.

But then we have the whole Jiraiya stating Naruto isn't a genjutsu type and it requires knowing how to control the 5 sense which require high intelligence.
