It was able to identify the owner of a chakra of an implanted eye. That's identifying a chakra within another chakra something the Sharingan was never shown, hinted or stated at being able to do.

actually you bring up a solid point here. kakazu gains other chakra natures by stealing hearts so it stands to reason that byakugan will see the different natures and where they originate from, which would lead to the conclusion of multiple hearts.

Lol... Hidan's head was severed, therefore his chakra network had been disrupted/severed as well since there are chakra points in the head/neck. After Kakuzu stitched his head back, he stepped back in the circle as if his chakra network hadn't been cut off. Point being, if having his head severed couldn't prevent chakra manipulating then Gentle Fist won't. Point blank.

Not that Hidan even needs to use his ritual to kill Neji, idk where you guys got this from. Hidan can easily tire out Neji, because he's immortal, and faster than him. Neji will have to expunge chakra, while Hidan won't, outlasting him, or just straight up killing him by inflicting a fatal because Neji has no intel, so he doesn't know about his immortality. No knowledge of immortality will mean Neji will approach Hidan as if he were any ordinary human, and try to take him out with 64 palms, then Hidan kills him, because 64 palms would have no effect.

Yeah Sasuke did verify the chakra nature through handsigns, but that doesn't discredit what he said, and what was specifically written by Kishimoto in regards to the Sharingan's capability. If it couldn't distinguish the nature of chakra there would be no point in making the term plural.

I just don't like all this Byakugan can see through the mask speculation without solid proof is all. I like the Hyugas, but giving them feats, and shit that they haven't showcased isn't cool lol.

No evidence points to it not being able to, absence of evidence isn't evidence of absence. Just because we weren't given a showing of it doesn't mean we can't use the other information presented about the eye to reach a conclusion and everything presented about Byakugan suggests there's nothing that would prevent it from seeing. All you mention is the sharingan being unable to see through it(which I don't recall it ever actually saying) and somehow you equate that to an eye which is better at that also being unable to do it.

As for the Sharingan noticing chakra colors that's not the same as being able to identify chakra owners from transplanted parts. That's the difference in level of detail between them, one notices a difference the other identifies that difference.

We can only go with the information from the manga and nothing in the manga has ever implied that there's something the Byakugan couldn't see through. No we do have another way to infer though, based on all the other showings and information given to us about the Byakugan throughout the manga. You're not even using any manga based implications to say it can't and you say I'm reaching. Everything in the manga about the Byakugan implies it'd have no problem seeing through the masks, nothing in the manga indicates it would struggle to see through the mask. We'll play your game, show anything from the manga that would indicate the Byakugan would have an issue seeing through a normal mask that was sewn onto a body.
