What if Mother Caramel is "no one" ?
No one seems to know who she is but she means a great deal to Big Mom. Big Mom in this chapter even says "Do not presume to trespass on my memories".
Which is an interesting phrase if you keep in mind that the person this arc revolves around is someone who can alter memories.
My point is, what if Pudding is the one that build in the weakness into Big Mom's mind by altering her memories about Mother Caramel ? Giving her some kind of horrible youth and trauma.
As this chapter shows, no one in their right mind dares to question Big Mom and the ones who do get punished for it. Which is the perfect cover for Pudding's ability.
Pudding was already annoyed when Big Mom was pushing her into the poneglyph ability and is seen having second thoughts on the marriage too. It looks like she has been planing to exploit that weakness later down the line. But now Bege and Luffy get a shot at it first.
Just think about it, why else would Oda show such an elaborate devil fruit ability on Reiju first only to be undone a few pages later by Sanji. You might say that is to catch Pudding off guard at the wedding. But he could've found a more simple solution to do so. I think that fruit has been introduced for a bigger effect. Namely to be used on Big Mom, we have seen that Pudding has plenty of alone time with mom so she also has the opportunity.

It's an interesting thought, but I doubt it. Yes I also think that Pudding is kinda fed up with all of this and might do something unexpected, but if she succeeded in implanting fake memories in BM (insert Inception reference here), why would she have added such roundabout ones? She can implant fake memories, but that doesn't mean she can manipulate how the people will react on these memories. So that she had the intention to give BM a mental breakdown each time a specific picture gets damaged, is quite haphazard. Not in the least because BM's reaction is indiscriminate.
I think if Pudding really created fake memories for her own benefit, she would have created some much more useful and easier to handle ones. In the end there isn't really anything weird about what BM said as that's the whole point of pictures: to remind you of the story and the memories behind them.

Why are these threads closed when a new chapter drops? This thread might not be the best example, but shit, people could still be discussing stuff or have stuff to say about the chapter. Why not just unsticky it and leave it open?

I've wondered the same thing. Plus leaving them open for discussion would prevent threads being made to continue side discussions but then again maybe more threads created looks better for them to their host? Idk about that though as I've never hosted a site.
Yeah I agree with you guys.. I've wondered the same thing.. especially when it was a chapter that has a lot of content in it.. or like certain threads when us members have bets or whatever, it would be cool if we could go back to it and still post.
Maybe they can change this? Upon our request?
This is really not the place for suggestions, but anyway it's quite simple as these threads are supposed to discuss the latest chapter and predict the next one. When a new chapter comes out, it's not the latest chapter anymore and thus the purpose of the thread has been fulfilled. You can't unread a chapter either and pretending you didn't read it is rather silly, so essentially that would mean that you have multiple threads about the exact same thing, which would be confusing and pointless. What it then comes down to in the end, is that you want a single permanent latest chapter discussion thread rather than making a new one each time. That's something that could work for lesser popular series that only a few people discuss each week, however that doesn't work for a popular series like OP where you have several pages of posts each time.
The thread that's made every week is pretty much the continuation of the previous thread, only everyone literally starts on the same page. It's confusing, and unfair, when people start commenting on posts made by other people on a time they had less information than they have now. I have seen this on other forums and it's simply weird.
Also realistically this week's thread is not an exception, it's the norm as most of the time the majority of the posts are made directly after the release of the chapter and towards the end of the week the thread pretty much becomes inactive. In most of the cases this doesn't happen, it's the result of two or more people having an argument about something very specific and that's not a reason to keep them open. As long as there isn't a new chapter, these kind of arguments can still be considered to fall under the discussion, but after that if you want to keep going at it, just make a new thread. This must have been the first time I see people not wanting to make new threads.
