They alien by definition but also gods because of shinju, Kishi just did the mistake of starting the series as strictly ninja when in reality shinobi are soldiers/warriors.

He also did a mistake with power scaling, his transition from stealth and tactics to open 'magical' warfare was terrible.

It became a huge "lets see who can spam the biggest cool magic move" contest

it was an intentional move by Kishimoto to separate his ninja concept from every other ninja manga by molding his characters' fighting abilities after the ones in “The Heroic Tales of Jiraiya”. If you knew you were going to have this big a problem with it, you should've dropped the story during the Land of Waves Arc instead of spending x amount of yrs whining about something you had zero control over.

2011? if so you have crap taste in anime since there is literally nothing wrong with it and the unusual characters and their development are the epitome of what a shounen should strive to be, plus there are no bs plot no jutsu powerups and explores concepts far too advanced for your average shounen
